Absolutely baffling considering the type of manager Conte is. Wouldn't have imagined Luiz to be his type of player at all.

 

Aye it's a strange one. Bonucci, Barzagli and Chiellini were his centre backs at Juve - three defensively sound players who aren't flashy and just do their job.

 

I do like Luiz tbh but he's the white version of Efe he's always got a mistake in him

 

He's good entertainment and seems like a really nice guy. I quite like him.

 

He also told the PSG Owner he'd like to move too Chelsea but he'd understand if he blocked it and he'd still give 100% to the team for the season

I reckon Conte thinks he can iron the mistakes out of him. After all, if he were to play his games without using his own brain, rather than someone else, he would be truly world class.

Plus, he was a last minute signing after failing to get everyone he wanted.

He would be a good defender if......

In other words he isn't a good defender. He is a liability and I don't see that ever changing. Chelsea fleeced PSG when they got £50m for him but to then give them the majority of that fee back is laughable. Pretty sure Mangala went for roughly the same fee to Man City a few years back mind you, and he is worse than Luiz in my opinion. He makes just as many mistakes as Luiz and is a far worse footballer.

 

My thinking exactly about luiz.
Remember thinking Chelsea would be laughing all the way to the bank with that fee. Absolute ridneck to accept such a fee. But good on them.

To then go resign the *? * sake.
Surely conte could have got one of the Italian boys, known so well for their centre halfs and how much he is respected by them.

If he was willing to spend that kind of money of a centee half so he could change the system to three at the back, there are plenty better than Luiz. Van Dijk for one straight away. Every bit as good with the ball at his feet compared to Luiz, and far more reliable as a defender.
