It's confirmed, Stones to Man City for £47.5 million.

This is a guy who can't get a start for England ahead of Chris Smalling...it's just laughable now.

Everton will rubbing their hands, they can go out and get someone who's better like Van Dijk for much less money.

Everton have supposedly bid £18million for Lamina Kone of Sunderland to replace him, have never heard of him and didnt know he existed until seeing that. Sunderland meant to have signed him for £5million in January.

Some amount of nonsense about John Stones on here, yes City may have overpaid for him right now but I think he'll prove to be a top signing in the future, people forget he is only 22, centre backs peak much later in their careers than that. He is very comfortable on the ball and Pep needs defenders like him for his philosophy.

A player is worth however much a club is willing to pay for him. Simple as that really.

Aye, money has went out of control in England so its irrelevant what * are paying now.

We have signed Toure, Sinclair and Dembele for like £4million where as Scottish players Hanley, Ritchie and McCormack have went for £29million in England.

Given the option to have Toure, Sinlclair and Dembele or Hanley, Ritchie and McCormack for the same price i'd take the guys we got but the other 3 cost 7x the price :97::56:

I like Stones and agree with the points you make. I remember the MOTD pundits spent time highlighting him on the ball. They mentioned it not to praise his ability but to highlight he was occasionally caught in possession. He's a young lad, composed on the ball and can defend. Quality centre-halfs who can play to such a high standard in both areas (with and without the ball) are rare and probably partly explains the high price tag.

I would agree that Man City have overpaid for the latest signing and so have Man United.

Barnsley won't be complaining, apparently they have a nice wee 15% sell on clause.

Strange one that, I expect Everton to make a move for Van Dijk now.

Ashley Williams on his way to Everton as replacement for Stones, £12 million pound deal.

Didnt see Moyes getting that kind of cash to spend.

Just seen on the news he was there already for 3 years and they let him go as he rejected a contract offer!!! Didnt realise that....but so funny they paid £89 million for a player that let go for nothing.

Sell Stones for £50 million. Sign Ashley Williams for a quarter of that fee.

Well played Everton. Williams is a far better defender.

Well im guessing Pep has some kind of say in his signings......so he must rate him highly to sanction it.

    Ah, get you now.

Definitely saw Van Gaal getting plenty to chuck at players, I've read that United have spent more on players (net) since Ferguson's departure than during his entire time in charge. Moyes did get to splash nearly 70 million on Mata and Fellaini as well.

Stones will turn into a top player. And he will obviously be given ample opportunity due to his price tag. Won't be a flop.

Everton have agreed a deal with Crystal Palace to sign Yannick Bolasie, according to Sky sources.
It is thought the fee could rise to £30m. :smiley-laughing002:
