Interesting news in MLS. It appears (fao holypope) that the exorbitant salaries being reported for Bradley and Defoe in Toronto are true. This has actually caused some acrimony with the other owners in MLS (I picture this scene very much like the counsel scene from The Godfather - MLS is run as an organized crime syndicate it seems sometimes) where they're claiming that this is going to harm their bargaining position in the future. As I said before, MLS usually does not give out high wages even for superstars. The money usually comes from endorsements signed once they come to the US.

Philadelphia are trying to sign Maurice Edu (yes, him) but are using MLS refusing to pay him his Stoke salary as a bargaining chip to get his wage demands down. Bradley is making 6.5 mil/year, Edu is asking for 1.2 mil/year (USD), so it appears that a can of worms has been well and truly opened.
