Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of Robin Van Persie.

The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course.

 

Hes 29, quite a lot for an older player they wont be able to sell but they needed a big signing(apart from Kagawa) imo to challenge for the League and he will probably allow them to challenge for the next 3 seasons.

I think they did need him as Welbeck, Hernandez and Berbatov werent good enough.

 

Agreed. Their midfield is still incredibly weak, and they'll win nothing next season, unless they replace Scholes, Giggs and Fletcher in the middle of the park.

Relying on Cleverely, Powell, Carrick, and Anderson will not lead to glory.

 

No but I wouldnt see them being a problem, he'll probably be offered about £150k a week and would probably even accept only £100k since he probably just badly wants to win a trophy lol

Cracking signing for them. Him and Rooney will be deadly together. Still think man utd need a midfielder though, someone like modric who is creative. I know they have scholes but he will likely only play around 25 games next season.

 

If it was Juve or a continental team, it would have been less, the price was bumped up due to it strengthening another team in England.

Personally, I'm delighted with the deal, Rooney is a form player, he usually scores in bunches so there will be times when he doesn't score for 5 games and with Welbeck and Hernandez not setting the world alight last year, RVP will be the man to fill the hole.

If City bought him then they would probably walk the league but now that United have him, I'm much more confident about this season now

 

Welbeck's good but he's not a goal scorer, Hernandez is very one dimensional and Berbatov looks to be off. Regardless as you say it's massive money with no sell on value. But I never really thought they missed goals last year, they missed a creative player in the centre.

 

Pretty sad state of affairs. I feel sorry for any Gunners, who would've just been seeing the best of him after all this time. And now he's off, to their biggest rivals.

Aye they need a centre-mid now, someone like Alex Song to complete their team. They have good depth in attacking areas and the wings. But only Scholes whos about 38? is a Man U class centre mid.
