Ha .. you don't feel that strongly about it then? :icon_mrgreen:

It's all down to personal opinion I guess, there were parts of all of them I didn't like and I hated some of the casting, particularly Ewen McGregor, but I thought given the daunting task Lucas had he did pretty well.

I thought the final film was really good, lots of action and a few emotional moments as well.

    FINALLY!!!!! :50:

Taken is far from amazing, it is quite predictable and it is sort one of those movies that you can say "well it's sort of been done before".

It's decent enough but ridiculously far fetched .. and like you say .. it was hardly 'ground-breaking'.

Never understood the big fuss myself.

Really? I would say that casting Ewan McGregor as a young Obi-Wan Kenobi was the only good decision they made during the production of all three movies. It would have been ever better if the script was written properly.

I wasn't taken in by the action scenes, either. It lacks grit, humanity, depth and purpose and it's only there to be pointless, sterile, tension-less, unrealistic and overblown filler. And the fight at the end of Revenge of the Sith was the absolute worst example of what I'm talking about.

I didn't like Taken either. It's impossible to not be distracted by the fact that Liam Neeson is horribly miscast.

100% agree. Lucas was completely obsessed with CGI to the detriment of absolutely EVERYTHING. Talk about having lost the plot. If there was ever an example of how to waste acting talent like Natalie Portman & Ewan McGregor, this was it. :38:

If you've not previously seen RedLetterMedia's reviews of these films, I highly recommend them. They are spot on... and hilarious to boot. This is where they start:

King Kong (2005 - Peter Jackson)

I like a lot of Peter Jackson's films (LOTR as well as movies like Braindead - did not see all his movies though), but I really disliked King Kong. Never understood why it was so popular when it came out.

Theres quite a few films, that are regarded as great or people seem to like that ive never seen as although ive never watched them they dont seem like I would like them Harry Potter, Batman, Spiderman, Xman, Ironman Transformers, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Star Wars, most of those types of "fantasy" I would call them kinds. Think the only Superhero film ive seen was The Hulk about 10 year ago. Just thought of more there too, ive never seen any James Bond films or Mission Impossible or Blade or Men in Black.

    *Star Wars
    *Titanic
    *Avatar
    *Twilight
    *Napoleon Dynamite
    *Lord of the Rings
*Any 'cartoon hero' films like Batman, Spiderman etc
    *Most Sci-Fi films
    *Shaun of the Dead
    *Quantum of Solace
*Most of Will Smiths films i.e Hancock etc
*Most of Arnold Schwarzenegger films albeit I may have not seen most of them all the way through

On another note, I think Van Helsing is one of the worst films I've ever seen, albeit I last saw it about 3 years ago.

The Rocky franchise. And pretty much all sports films. It's like the drama in them comes from whether they win or not, and that's what makes sport exciting, so why not just watch the actual sport? I quite liked Moneyball though.

The Rocky films (well, the good ones - Rocky, Rocky II and Rocky Balboa) aren't so much about the boxing, more the drama that comes from the lives of the characters.

It's about an ordinary guy who has his chance at doing something huge with their life, how they react to that chance and how people around him react. The boxing isn't the point - you could replace it with anything and still have largely the same movie.
