I doubt it mate, and we'd be very foolish to rush him back for this game, those * will hack at him.

Think fans have lost the head with the term 'Old Firm'. Some don't even seem to know what it means. It's simply down to our united ability to draw in great crowds.

:56::56: when our first choice full backs are fully fit, that position is one of our strongest in the team.

I'll be interested to see how Rangers approach this match, as Ally seems very tactically inconsistent and doesn't know his best 11 - especially without Naismith.

If Izzy is back, I think they'll play Lafferty on the right wing and pump the ball up to him. He can beat Izzy in the air and if he keeps pressing up it'd essentially take Izzy out of the game as an attacking option. Presuming they play Aluko on the left, I think we'll see them play a 451/433 formation with Jelavic as a lone striker.

I actually think Maj is our best option at centre-back to deal with Jelavic (who isn't on good form anyway), and who he partners with is really just a matter of form. I can see it being Loovens just for consistency in selection, but a fit Rogne would be a good option and it could be worth playing Mulgrew, if for no other reason, so we can take best advantage of set-pieces.

If Rangers play a midfield 3 it'll be Davis, Edu + A.N. Other. I could see them playing McCulloch with Davis and Edu in front of him. There'd always be the surprise option of playing someone like McKay, but in terms of centre-midfield I'm really not worried. A midfield 2 of Kayal and Wanyama will dominate any combination in midfield they can play, and Ledley is a suitable replacement for either of them.

The question is do we play an extra man in midfield or not? I don't think their defence is as good as made out. Goian is strong but looks reasonably clumsy and I think if we attack at them with pace then we can cause them real problems. To me, that suggests playing Hooper and Forrest as guaranteed starters, and there's also the option of Sammy if he maintains his form. Samaras is also our best option for an outball from defence, however, I worry that Rangers might have learnt how to deal with him, so that's always a risk.

Brown will, if fit, be a guaranteed starter, regardless of what people think of this. He was outstanding at the last Old Firm, basically creating our two goals out of nothing. Bearing all of this in mind, I'd line up like this:

    Forster

    Matthews - CB - Maj - Izzy

    Brown - Kayal - Wanyama - Sammy
    Forrest
    Hooper

And I'd play that with a roving front 4 - in other words, have Sammy, Forrest, Hooper and Brown constantly interchanging positions. I don't think their defence will be able to cope with Hooper and Sammy playing through the middle one minute, and then Brown and Forrest the next.

It's hard to leave out Stokes and Ledley but that'd give us two fantastic options to bring off the bench to change the game - something Rangers just don't have.

subs-Samaras, Samaras, Samaras and under 17's new boy Samaras

Samaras only might get around 70 minutes, then they can bring Samaras off the bench :icon_mrgreen:

There's talk of a squad of us all heading round to a mate's in the afternoon before it, could get very messy!

I'll be having a wee drink this time round to settle the nerves as I dread to think what last season's 7 games done to my ticker haha, I'm verging upon a nervous breakdown anytime those * come near our goal! :celt_2:

At the end of the day it's all about dig vs those *. Sammy offers height so he'll be in the team too probably.

Brown has a different game to Forrest (obviously) and Brown's will be more useful to getting the 3 points vs Rangers.
