I was attempting a bout of online sarcasm to the guy I quoted, I should have known sarcasm doesn't translate well in type :52:

And you interpret that as defending your country from invaders? Am not sure I see that to be honest.

I would see that more as PIRA chants and Up to our knees in * blOOd.

Because your country and its national pride are at stake! The SNP are preparing an invasion force! Oh noes, they want to ban all Irish songs, burn all the tricolours and export all the irish people! /sarcasm
The only things you're 'defending' is a shameful legacy that exists in the stands in parkhead, as well as your obnoxious claim that you have the right to use football games as a venue to nurture a bitter footballing rivalry that has come to have little to do with football, and more to do with conflict and hate-mongering.

I'm defending this government's attempt at driving society towards progress, helping us grow out of the culture of hate-mongering, and until you open your eyes and see that Scotland would be a better place without the insidious, backwards culture of "Us against them", instead of denying and regurgitating the same old tripe, well then you're only slowing down the progress of a nation.

It's violent acts in the past.

It's songs about violent acts in the past.

    Ergo, they are not allowed.

I've asked you this several times but can you name one single PIRA chant that we do? Artur said Roll of Honour, I'm not too sure about that one.

I can't think of any other that could be interpretated that way.

    Passed today at nOOn.

You're acting like a hun. They always turn to the insults when they have nothing better to say.

There's two that I can think of and the are rare. 'Like me and you, he's a provo tOO' and 'P I P I PIRA!'.

To me that is all we need to stop doing on the rare occasions it happens.

Like me and you, the Greend Brigade have changed to 'he loves Celtic too' and the rest of the stadium has joined in.

The second one I've only heard at Tyncastle in extreme circumstances last year, first time in a long, long time.

That's not the songs that they are attacking, read the bill again. You can apply it to any songs we sing of an Irish heritage.

There you go. All I am arguing here is that for ME, the bill for Celtic fans means this. All I've been saying is I don't see the bill as a threat to the BOTOB and so on.

And there you go :) This just won't stand up is what am saying. You mention Flower of Scotland, Scots Wahae, Jacobites by Name and so on and you're laughing! If any judge didn't accept that you would have every right to go to the European Court of Human Rights.

What a * joke. The courts won't have a clue, the police won't have a clue and your everyday football fan won't have a clue as to what they can and can't sing or say. Complete waste of time.

We'll see if anyone takes offence to any of them and gets lifted for it.

This legislation just points out what a narrow * wee country this is.

In the US, they have a constitution which protects their right to free speech.

In Scotland, you're not even allowed to offend people - not even with the truth.

Speaking as someone who has voted SNP in the constituency vote the last couple of elections, they can totally go * themselves from here on in.

Thing is, they have totally * up their chance in the devolution referendum. We're going to see a big spike in the number of court cases for sectarian offences, and the Unionists will have a * field day painting Scotland as a potential sectarian war zone post-independence.

    Seriously?

The bill rules out - as a specific example to define its meaning - "Songs/lyrics which glorifies or celebrates events involving the loss of life or serious injury."

The Irish War of Independence undeniably involved loss of life and serious inujries.

BOTOB celebrates the War of Independence.

I'm trying and failing to imagine what mental gymnastics lead you to believe it's not covered by the bill.

What you meant to say was "people are going to have to get used to being controlled by the SNP then"

Don't know where or if you live in the US, but where I live what's in the constitution and reality are 2 entirely different things.
Try singing praises of the Taliban or disrupting their national anthem at any sporting event, if you are lucky enough to get to leave the stadium unscathed, you certainly will not be allowed back in it , period.
When I first arrived over here(legal, with an American wife), I went to the pipefitters union (was a time served card carrying member in Scotland, which I brought them tons of proof of) and asked to join...
No can do, says the BA
Can you give me a trade test, to prove what I can do ?
Not questioning your ability son, this is politics, we have members wanting to get their sons and nephews in when they leave school, there would be * on if I let some foreigner swank his way in.
Word for word true story, no more pipefitting for moi as you cant do any in the state I live without a union license, had to find a new career, it * sucks, and paid half of what I earned in Scotland.
Not a sob story, just a fact that the grass is not always greener.
When's the last time you went to join a union or applied for a job in Scotland, and some guy has said right to your face, Irish descent, not a * chance ?
I know a lot about Scotland sucks, but it is CERTAINLY NOT top of the discrimination league, and anyone who thinks so has not been about enough.

Is there a league for discrimination though?

I've posted a couple of times in the last few days about bigotry and discrimination I've encountered in Scotland because of what I am perceived to be because of the team I support.

Surely discrimination is discrimination no matter how frequent you think it is?
