    My third favourite Celtic song.

But that being about Celtic I think it would be better to take out the 'up the ra' bit and make it 'up the Celts'. The songs about the IRA fine, but no need to have it in a song about Celtic.

It's not absurd mate, if one policeman takes that interpretation of it anybody who boo'd is likely to get arrested. It is up to the discretion of the officers.

That post by fiferbhoy himself by saying 'coloured' would be viewed as offensive, he could concievably be in court for that. Although I know for a fact he doesn't mean it that way and is just part of a generation that were taught that is the 'PC' thing to say.

Singing songs is part of the spectacle?

Or is a football ground to be akin to a library now because someone says I'm not allowed to hate opposition fans?

Oh I'm sorry, I never realised that if Celtic FC PLC pay for an offensive song's music video then it suddenly becomes unoffensive. Oh wait - that's not true.

It's all relevant, I'll bet some of the ones calling an orange * an orange * the loudest, were some of ones reacting with the most shock and horror at the famine song.
To me they are both banter, and sounds like, we can dish it out but we we want the line drawn where we want it drawn.
You couldn't give most of the guys I knew at the fitba a red neck with a blow torch, but a couple of songs can send loads home cut to the bone ?
You know the huns are not exactly sensitive wee dears either, but they wanted the score evened.
If our RA chants had been made illegal first by them moaning, would we have wanted payback as well ?
Time we called a spade a shovel, and faced up to what is going on here .

Agreed. Calling people "Orange *" isn't, or rather shouldn't be part of the spectacle. Because seeing men scream these archaic, bigoted insults at each other is really not what anyone should want to see at the football.

This is ridiculous, now you're just projecting. I never said that football grounds should be like libraries. Sing, for goodness sake, sing your hearts away, but have no hate in your voice and no menace in your words, because most people in this 21st century, first world society would prefer to avoid the hatred and anger on a Saturday afternoon. You just have to accept that if you want to go to a football game.

Wasn't the PLC that paid for it actually but there you go. I was just asking you to clarify the song.

The song itself is nonsensical, I take it you know the lyrics? The 'Oh Ah Up The Ra' in there serves no purpose and has generally started to be sung a lot as either 'Oh Ah Samaras' or 'Oh Ah Up The Celts'

Although the Oh Ah Up The RA still happens. Now judging by the WolfeTones songbook by itself; then they are talking about the Old IRA, Irish Heros of the sort of Padraig Pearse, Michael Collins and James Connolly.

These men I wouldn't call murderers by any stretch of the imagination.

Where does it say that? Unless you define those songs as bigoted, sectarian or racist? Which I know you don't.

No songs about violent acts in the past.
