So what your saying is its ok to hate the british army but people in scotland who have no ties to ireland and maybe hate the ira should put up with and accept the ira.....?

I agree, the IRA stuff has to be dropped, its not like there's an awful lot of it anyway; one throwaway line in BOTOB and the "up the ra" bit in celtic symphony which could be easily changed to "up the celts" or somesuch

The problem is some people are offended by anything Irish, for some it's simply Irish = I.R.A; which is of course total pish; I object to this law not because I want to sing IRA chants, not at all; I object to it because its scope is so wide that eventually, some poor sod will get lifted for singing the soilders song, the fields of athenry or something similar.

This bill is the tip of the iceberg and its not just going to stop at IRA chants. the warped logic will be "your irish songs, although legal, are "offensive" to other supporters and the police so stop singing them or you're nicked".

Then the transformation into Glasgow Hibs will be complete.

He part runs the clubs. He finds the money for the fines. YOU don't. I don't. So as far as that side of being Celtic goes no we are not.

Second option for me, personally just don't like hearing things about the IRA at parkhead, irish songs are fine for me, i welcome them but anything to do with the IRA and i will not participate.

Peter lawell is a employee....he has rules like evryone else.
He gets the blame like he owns celtic and is in total control and there is no one else on the board.
He is the spokesman for the club, stop using him as a scape goat.

I see what you're saying mate. I do think it will go the other way. The bill may hit like a tonne of bricks but like most of this nature they will soften and evolve into a more suitable fair law.

I'd rather the bill didn't get passed at all and the police started doing their * jobs upholding the laws that are already in place; of course as Christine Graeme said, those laws didnt prosecute "enough" celtic fans while it did rangers fans; it never crossed their mind for one moment that thats because the vast majority of celtic fans are not sectarian or racist, but they cant get the infamous myth of "both as bad as each other" out of their heads

I hope if its passed what you say happens; I have my doubts though.

Well if that is the case then I apologise.

If anything was to come of the UEFA charges then I would hope the fans would fix it.

To many PIRA and IRA are the same thing.

They don't really care to be educated on the historical differences either.

I don't see why the discontinuation of singing IRA songs regardless of what IRA we refer to should impact on your matchday experience ultimately we are all there for the same thing and that is to support Celtic and the 11 men in the hoops on that given day.

I don't think the 11 men on the park are more inspired to put in a shift for you when they hear an IRA ballad.

There are still plenty of Celtic songs and Irish songs that don't reference the IRA or are about the IRA that can be sung.

Yeah mate. Always hated people saying we're as bad as them. Many Rangers fans do you hear about getting stabbed or killed after OF games in Scotland or NI.

We do have a problem but it's minute compared to the scum.

Fergus McCann started Bhoys Against Bigotry.
David Murray on TV refused to condemn Rangers fans singing naughty songs.
Martin Bain refused to hear them.
