Apparently the Red Sox are making moves for my main man, John Farrell :47:

So the Padres have the best record over the last 10 games in MLB (9-1). This is before the owners have had time to put money in the team as well.

Going to be some ask if the Padres are going to make a late charge for the play-offs, a la the Rockies in 2007, when they just went ballistic in September, had to play a play-off game (against the Padres if memory serves - similiar to what the 2 WC teams will have to do this year anyhow) & carried that through the NLDS/NLCS...

IMO, the '07 Rockies were so hot what killed them was they finished the NLCS with so much time to spare, meaning they had to sit doing nothing and by the time they faced the Red Sox in the WS they were stone cold.

As a way of rounding this post off, whilst the Padres current form may just be giving a wee hint of a late flurrish, by contrast Boston are just dismal atm... didn't even have a chance in this game after the first 3 innings... another nailk in the coffin of 2012.

Hopefully the Padres can continue, might put some pressure on other teams around the NL & make it interesting over the last few weeks of the season... I'll be happy if an NL team ends up with the WS rings, come the end of October.

It's not gonna happen... the gap is 13 games, but it bodes very well for next year.

Another Sox loss... now 0-6 on this road trip, swept by both the Angels & the A's, with something like 3-30 in terms of first 3 innings in games... everything about this team is going south, but you're not even giving your team even the slightest chance when your starting pitchers are allowing the opposition these kind of starts. 3 runs for, 30 runs given up. Abysmal. Now 1-9 in the last 10.

This season can't finish fast enough for Boston.

All eyes geared towards the pennant races & the WC chase though...

Some tight finishes on the cards... Stinkees lead the O's by 2, Tigers draw level with the ChiSox in the AL C & Oakland draw to within 3 of Texas.

The Divisional races in the NL looking more clear cut, but the WC could go right down to the wire.

Boston now 0-7 on this road trip. :54:

O's within 1 game of the lead in the AL E... Would be great if the Evil Empire missed out on the play offs this year.

O's draw level at the top of the AL E, with the Wankees dropping another game to TB & the O's thumping the Blue Jays.

Make that 3-0 down after 4... and it's not like the Mariners are doing anything exceptional, just good fundamental baseball

Braves have cooled down a bit unfortunately.

No matter what happens, I'm glad to have Kris Medlen on the roster. He reminds me so much of Greg Maddux. Give the boy a 1000 year contract!

I can't believe the Angels are still 3.5 games out in the wildcard race with the starting rotation they have and Trout, Hunter, Pujols and Trumbo at the the top of their line-up. When they signed Zack Greinke I stuck a wee wager on them winning the WS and it's looking a dodgier bet by the day.

A sweep of the A's over the next few days would really help their cause.

Greinke is one of the most overrated pitcher in the game.

Absolutely abysmal road trip. Thanks for small mercies, that it's finally over, 1-8. Just hope they can show a little more during the next home stand. That was painful.

Greinke is a Cy Young winner. I think he merits being highly rated.

He's had one excellent season - that's it. apart from that he's just been between ok and garbage. Don't get me wrong, he ain't completely rubbish, he just doesn't seem to be consistent and ain't elite in my books.

also even Colon and Zito have won cy young awards in the past. :icon_mrgreen:
