Hooper has been a shadow of himself lately. I think I know why. I remember the incident which led to his injury this season. It was against Dundee United at Celtic Park earlier in the season. I can't find a video but here's a description: "Hooper powered into the United half on a solo run and struck for goal, but the ball went wide of the target and the former Scunthorpe man was stretchered off moments later after injuring himself in the process." (Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/14429772.stm)
I remember that incident clearly. Hooper showed great commitment and ultimately put too MUCH energy into his run, and since he came back from that injury, he hasn't shown that kind of hunger again. Could it be that Hooper's poor form is because he's scared of getting injured?

It's a point to note, a swift boot up the * should fix that however.

He went through a poor run of form after Bougherra attacked his ankle in the Scottish cup replay at Parkhead too.

Didn't injure himself, think it was gary kenneth that came through with a nasty and sneaky tackle that did the damage. Same as bougherra last year and only the other week in the killie game a player ran their studs right down his achilles, no wonder he is sluggish!

Really? I can imagine it being quite horrific for a player to get injured. Fair doos, if someone else inflicts the injury on him, then what usually happens is the player works his way back to fitness and gets on with it. But the fact that Hooper injured himself could have had a big impact on his mentality, and I don't think a skelped * is the solution to that!

    Think so?

I think the best solution to that would be tell him to get out there and stop being a *. That'd * me off enough to take my mind off of it anyway :56:

Nah dude I'm pretty sure there was a bit of space between him and the united defender. He just pushed himself too hard making that run. I'm sure of it.

You should never say stuff like that, especially worded so strongly, unless you actually know that its true. And I doubt that Gary Hooper has told you personally that he's going to leave in January

I see that you've got nothing to back up your claim. I'll assume Hooper is staying.

Maybe he's just not as good as some of us thought he was - I was certainly impressed by him last season, but I was also impressed with Lee Naylor's first season at the club and look what happened there.

I think he will always have a good scoring record while at Celtic as that's his forte, but he isn't offering a great deal when he doesn't score.

One of those players that needs to do much better off-the-ball than what he currently is.
