I would. You would too if you had the choice.

As a young bhoy all I wanted was to play for Celtic. To score against Rangers and run into the Celtic fans. To lift a trophy in honour of the fans. I wouldn't trade any of that for Barcelona. I'm sure you feel the same if you really think about it.

Even from a financial point of view, I wouldn't care if Barcelona were offering me 100k a week and Celtic only 10k a week. 10 thousand quid every week, that's more than enough money to get by.

To be honest I dont see why you consider "diddy teams that will never win nothing" to be less than a proposition to a manager than celtic. Id imagine most foreign managers would put winning trophies in Scotland a million miles behind even just playing in a top league and rightly so.

Go to a team like say Wigan and you get to play in the premiership. You get global exposure and you get to spend millions. You will likely be battling against relegation each year but you will be playing top teams and building a reputuation. This I believe is considered a far more prestegious position in global football than even winning stuff in Scotland (and we arent winning much). Guys like Strachan and McLeish won many trophies and managed to get championship level jobs in England. They is where our reputation currently lies.

We currently have a team half made up of freebies, havent won the league in 3 years, will give a manager no money to spend, and demand pretty much instant success. Fan or no fan, from a career development perspective I can see why any established manager wants nothing to do with Scotland.

Let me get this straight. Your telling me if someone offered you £100,000 per week in the most exciting league in the world, not to mention that they are one of the biggest and most celebrated teams in club football, that you would knock them back in favour of £10,000 per week with Celtic in this league of dross?

Think some people are nuts at times. I can assure you if Barcelona came in offering me £100k that I would absolutely jump at it. With those wages you would be able to look after your entirely family and probably the next generation of your family too and provide them with a better standard of life for the rest of their lives.

I know it would be every guys dream to pull on the green and white hoops of Glasgow Celtic but come on... there is no competition when those wages are on the table. It because of this I fully understand when some players don't come to this league.

This post just appears to be a very anti-Scottish, pro-Irish post with very skewed points thrown in. Stokes did go to a lower level premiership team, remember. Robbie Keane came up for half a season just so he could say he played for us and had no intention of ever staying for any longer. Roy Keane similar with a nice wee retiring cheque. Not really dropping sticks and moving to Celtic, not like they gave us the prime of their careers is it?

Moyes has stated he wants to manage us one day and I think he will. McFadden wasn't offered a contract by the looks of things. Bannan etc... who are these etc's?

Wages don't matter to me though. I've got nothing of note in my life at the moment and I'm happy enough. If I was getting 10k a week to play for Celtic I'd be absolutely ecstatic.

Just thinking about this club brings a tear to my eye at times. It's like being in love with the most beautiful girl in the world. A passion that cannot be explained and should not be explained, just cherished.

Why be patronising towards people who love their club? Xavi and Carles Puyol would never leave Barcelona. Steven Gerrard will never leave Liverpool. Paolo Maldini and Franco Baresi never left Milan. Billy McNeill and Paul McStay never left Celtic.

    Get a grip.

Xavi puyol wouldnt leave barca because they are one of the best in teh world and they are ghetting paid what they want

Steven geard wouldnt leave liverpool because of the money he's on, if liverpool were sitting in teh 1st division and only earning 5k a week and had teh chance to move to a club earning him 100k a week , he'd jump ship in a heart beat

Paolo Maldini /Franco Baresi were also on top dollar their whole carrers and no need to move

Billy mc neil was club captain, was on ok money and noone really came in for him with ridiculous money , if they did , he'd have jumped ship also. Paul mcstay was the same,

Around the early 90's Paul McStay was making noises about leaving but nobody came in for him and he made an amazing turnaround and signed a new contract.

It's very crass to suggest that Cesar and the Maestro didn't remain at Celtic throughout their whole career out of an extreme love for the club. Money would have had absolutely nothing to do with it.

What about the players/ managers that we have taken and dismissed? Tony Mowbray, Jock Stein for example. Where was the loyalty we showed these managers who both had success and failed. What about all the players that wanted to play for us and we released? Many to go onto a successful career at other clubs?

As fans, we simply see it from our sides. And thats fair enough, I am the same myself. But when fans are asked to become employees it becomes a different matter. Managers and players have a career to consider. Players especially may have a short window in which to get the best out of the game. John Kennedy is a prime example of someone who's career was cut short.

We need to appreciate that players may have been fans when they were younger, and probably still follow the club, but football is now their employment.

The age of the loyal player who will come to us simply to play for the hoops is gone. Money and success talks. If players come then great, they may get a sense of what we are like Larsson did. But players like that rarely come around.
