He was a doubt going into the game with a knee problem, so perhaps the thikning was give him a few more days off. Better a few days off to ensure he is 100% than (given his history) a few months on the injury table because he tried to play when he wasn't right.

I meant again this season! He's not played for a few weeks but he has played a good few games and consistently been good when he has played.

I'll always love him after that goal against them, my first OF goal. But Matthews does look undropable just now, he's only played 5? Wow thought he'd played more.

As much as I like Wilson, and know he'll always give 100%, have to admit I slightly prefer Cha, he's looked really good when he's played so far this season, and his pace is always a massive asset going forward and defensively, in his time here he's saved our CB's arses a fair few times simply because he has the legs to cover the ground and help out.

Matthews looks really promising though, assuming he'll eventually overtake both Wilson and Cha in a season or two, maybe sooner.

Getting sick off this "cha cant defend" phenomenum :31:. He never lets a winger past him because he can chase them down faster than a horse and he covers for Maj like no other fullbacks. He is built like a terminator and rarely loses in the air. And yet his defending is horrific some say. He gets caught out of position occassionaly like every other full backs of modern football. But he can usually sprint back and recover. Overall im just sick and tired of this myth put on cha, he has proven himself as an asute defender at both club and international level plenty of times.

Besides that, i really do rate wilson as a player. For me he is a 6/10 to 7/10 player who will always be solid and never spectacular. But i have to mention he gets beaten for pace and power occassionaly. I think our last old firm game showed that (best not to recall the nightmare). Matthews is still very much young and we should be in no hurry to put him in the Starting 11 especially when there is so much pressure on our team at the moment.

Got a bit off topic, but i personally think wilson is either carrying a small injury or cha is doing well in training. Or possibly lenny is prefering cha over wilson now, either will have 3 very good RBs at our club and we should proud of all of them :50:

Sorry but no way cha should be anywhere near our midfield

Wilson, Du-Ri and Matthews, it is too much for one right back position. I think Wilson still a good defender but, in my mind, he is just a good replacement of an other right back who have a better level than him :icon_sad:

From what I've heard/read, the pecking order is Cha, Matthews, Wilson. I guess most people can already work that out.

The reason I'm thinking is Cha/Matthews are much better attacking (they are). Can't help but feel Lennon is overlooking Wilson's defensive ability (can play CB!), maturity and experience.

A toiling defence needs all the help it can get and Wilson is our best defender, I'd be picking him week in week out.

I've always sung Mark's praises but he has been very poor this season. I don't know if hes not fully fit again or what. But he doesn't seem willing to go forward anymore and has seemed very poor defensively.

Hope he gets back to form because him and Emilio were a big part of our team last season.

Maybe he could do a job at centre back. I would prefer him playing as a right back if he can recapture his form though.

Has he not got some niggling injury that limits how many games he can play a week? I think he'll start on Thursday, especially after Cha's defensive nightmare yesterday

He has barely been seen since he came out in the press and stated that some of the players are baffled that Lennon saw fit to drop Zaluska for Forster when Zaluska had done nothing wrong (an argument borne out by stats- Zaluska conceded 2 goals in 4 competitive matches, Forster 15 in 11, and Zaluska had a different defence in front of him in each of those 4). This season, like many top performers from last season, he has been off the boil a bit. Seems its only the new guys putting in the effort and finding form- wonder why that is.......?

He's missing Izzaguire I think. When both are on the pitch they are able to pin teams back. Without Izzy, if Wilson bombs forward like he did last year the team are lopsided and we end up exposing our already shaky defence.

Wilson is a dependable character and a decent footballer. He should be in the side every week. We need guys like him and Mulgrew in the side.
