It's offensive to some folks, though. It's so much easier to just not sing it at all.

yes but the charges put forward are to do with sectarianism and this is where the police and the govt get it so, so wrong. If Celtic fans were chanting about being 'upto their knees in * blood' or something along those lines then yes, that is sectarian. Signing botob is anything but and if people are going to be arrested for that then I expect 52,000 Scottish fans as well as the players who sing 'Flower of Scotland' to be arrested and charged with similar offences. Both songs recall tales in time were a rebel army has uprised and fought battles which have seen deaths and destruction. One is deemed sectarian; the other is our national anthem.

What a load of pish. According to this the farts fans are in trouble because anti catholic chants ARE sectarian while pro IRA is political and Not sectarian. I hate this country. The huns are free to sing racist songs while we are persecuted for having political opinion. Dirty ****** *

Lothian and Borders police should busy themselves tackling proper crime.
Not saying it's appropriate to be singing about Irish politics in a football ground but this idea that it is now a crime is ridiculous.

If the missing word is what you think it was and im asuming its a colour, then how could it be sectarian? They are not a religious institution.

What has YNWA got to do with football? Fields of Athenry? Let the People Sing? This Land is your Land? Not all songs sung in football stadiums are about the team.

I wish they'd give us a list if what can be sung. Singing ooh ah up the ra I'm sure Celtic fans have been told not to sing at any ground, think that's it. And if the club get hit with a fine for doing it I wish people would wake the * up and see it is * our clb and the support who don't chant it.
Don't really see the problem with botob but if Celtic and other officials came out and said "don't sing it, well get into *" then fans should respectthe clubs wishes. Until then though sing botob.....without the add-ons of "ooh ah up the ra". You're just harming the club for yor own selfish needs

Instead of singing ooh ah up the ra why not sing ooh ah up the celts like the version at Celtic park? Change one word and this police investigation wouldn't be happening!

For those who are in love
    There's a song that's warm and tender.
    For those who are oppressed
    In song you can protest.

    So liberate your minds
    And give your soul expression.
    Open up your hearts,
I'll sing for you this song.

There is definately place for songs of such ilk at football games, sporting events have always been used for political messages, its a place where like-minded people can come together and show their stance on something.

I'm proud of what the ira done in there time, now they are just a bunch of gangsters. But ill always sing pro ira song, not because I'm doing it to * anyone of or get a reaction, but because its a big part of my life from family who lived and were in the ira to family member being hounded out of ireland and had to move to glasgow .
