    Quite simple really.

Our defence is an absolute shambles as we all know - Big Kelvin crocked till xmas, Maj is a bombscare, Rogne is injury prone and very green, Hooiveld's away, O'Dea's away....and then there's Glenda :54:

Thank * a LEFT BACK discovered he was decent a CB!

Whether u blame Lenny for this or not, this should have been addressed FAR more effectively in the last two transfer windows. Ok, Wilson looks decent enough, and most people thought an experienced Swedish international would have been a sound option. But there is no excuse for this summer's window.

We can rightly moan about that boneidle * that we have masquerading as a striker, but at least we have some options up there.

My conclusion - this defence won't improve because, with the current personnel, it cannot improve. My fear is that by the time January comes around, the damage will be done and Lenny's position will become untenable.

    Thoughts?

the defence is a * shambles the only decent cb is mulgrew and hes average at best imo. it should have been addressed in the summer but we needed a gk, lb, cb and a striker. how is lenny ment to bring in better than what we have got at the club just now with the budget which was given to him by the board ?

No but it has cost us points already and will again. Hopefully in January we get Izzy back fit so that's one position down, just need 2 decent centre backs and a right back although Mulgrew could fill in at Centre back and do well, I much prefer him at left back though but he's no match for Izzy when he's fit.

Lenny should stop changing it and stick with one.

How long is Wilson out for? 2 months or something? and i'd imagine Izzy will be back just before him.

So until then it should be

    Wilson Rogne Mulgrew El Kaddori

Then after Wilson and Izzy comes back it should be

    Wilson Wilson Mulgrew Izzy

I don't think the defence is that bad

Hope not, but have a horrible feeling they just might. As stated this should've ben sorted long ago, we knew, everyone knew this was the weak link in the team, so why was nothing done about it?

We all know moneys tight, but at spl level there's guys out there who are far far better than what we have at the moment, ffs the likes of Gary Kenneth at United is head and shoulders above any centre half we have at our disposal at the minute, and we could've gotten him for sweeties, absolutely no excuses why it wasn't sorted:47:

That's why the huns have left us behind past few season.cos there defence has been solid and they only need the 1 goal when there playing * to sneak a win which they done umpteen times last season

Didn't Lenny also say that he signed Victor Wanyama as a centre back in mind.

If so how about giving him a run in defense. It cannot get any worse, Glendaand Maj is just frightening. I know he played in the St. Johnstone match at centre back and we lost 1-0 but I did not see that match, did he play alright or was he all lost in the back like Kevin Wilson?

Only if we don't win the league. I think if he'd stop * around with the pairings and just play, for instance, Mulgrew and Wilson in the middle from here on out, things would settle down considerably.

It is a possiblity. The defence not in good shape and not too much has been done to remedy it.
Seen the highlights and Maj was more than shocking, far too casual for me. I'd be sacking Maj and Loovens for a start. And stop withjt the zonal marking. Never worked for us.

Mistakeovic , Glenda & Sammy will cost him his job eventually!
Also the fact he is snubbing Commons (ok he is out of form) but still throws Sammy in and when was the last time he was in form.
Mulgrew has to play Cb when fit + any other player other than Mistakeovic .

Something isn't right at Celtic Pk just now and I don't know what it is but I'm in no doubt when we start v Hearts on Sunday we will be 10 pts behind they monkeys.

yeah i got to agree with this it's spot on

Glenda should have been long gone, samaras should have been away too (* me!!! giving him a 3 year contract on the back of the sammy v rankers game) and well majstorovic has just went from a stable average centre half to a * terrible one in the space of a few months

These guys will lose lenny his job and quite frankly it looks like they don't want to be here

Hope not! But it does need reinforcements!

I did think with the signings of Matthewsm, Wilson and Wanyama and then El Kadourri we were sorted in DF, however it's clear that with a couple of injuries we're not.

Unfortunately big Dan has forgot how to defend. Rogne is more on the treatment table than the pitch and Glenda is, well, Glenda!

IMO we need 2 CBs signed in Jan, who are better than Maj & Loovens.

That way we'll have four who can play at the back and still have M Wilson, Cha, Matthews, Izzy & El Kadourri (who I think we shold sign on a permanent basis as back up for Izzy) on the flanks!

We'll still have Wanyama & Rogne as the younger, for the future, back up players!

For now, let's keep it tight and make sure we're defending as a team! Take lessons from other sides.

I know Barcelona are Barcelona but they can play MFs at DF and still not concede because they all work incredibly hard to win the ball back when they lose it - our team has to adopt the same work ethic & mentality.

    Hail Hail

I says no! Its more hoping tho,i think malgrew has to be a part of that cb pairing.K Wilson is good enough but just unfortunate he has had a couple of howlers. It shows just how much we are missing izzy, M Wilson has not really hit the ground this yr. Its frustrating that we are chopping and changing, i feel that the defense from last yr with the addition of Kelvin and Matthews has strengthened it but with the players available to lenny he is finding it hard to get a settled back 4.

This, 100% this, otherwise it will be curtains, good teams are always built on a solid backbone of good goalie and defenders, we have neither, but priority is centre halfs.

Out of all of our centre backs i can't honestly think of one who is good enough, i know Wilson is new, but not impressed yet.

YES - This defence will cost Lennon His Job - But he Picks them and has now had THREE transfer window`s to sort it out.

Between us and that other mob i would say were are MORE liable to drop points than them. Scary as it seems the league could be over for us at Christmas.

The one thing that has been overlooked in my opinion is our Scouting system. How is it the other mob can always find defenders yet we cant...were going back even before Caldwell & McManus its pathetic how this position has never been fixed. As for a club our size 2 seasons with an on-loan keeper who is average. Shambles the way things have been left to rot.

I 100% think it will cost him his job. We won't win anything worth mentioning with this defence and possibly keeper.
There's two ways of looking at it though: Lenny identified the issues at the begining of the transfer window, took his requests to the board and they denied him it, which will ultimately cost Lenny his job but it will be down to the board not backing him. Then you have the scenario that Lenny identified the defence as an area to improve but felt the he could get by with Wilson and just waited to see what happened throughout the transfer window and wasn't pro active enough; totally his fault.
Either way though I think the defence will cost him his job regardless of where the blame lies, the board aren't going to sack themselves.

you rarely get quality when you buy free transfers questions must be asked about the transfer policy
