Well it couldn't be because of his amazing footballing skills, capable of skinning multiple players for fun, has a pretty good eye for a through ball and chips in with great goals aswell so it couldn't be for that, in the SPL he should by right be playing every week since hes apparently so talented but he doesnt, why is that? Is it because of the competition ? sammy who when not tearing it up in europe spends every other week in the league running into blind alleys, has none existent link up play and cant pass for *, infact never lifts his head up to find a pass in the first place, or is it forrest whos a talented winger but inconsistent as *?

Sarcastic sure but if im wrong then feel free to jump in and give me a reason as to why he doesnt play more often for a player of his ability..... and i do think hes talented, the first 2/3 lines i fully meant, hes shown all them traits but still rarely plays.

Never understood this whole thing about his fitness.

He's not the fittest player in the squad by a long shot I would imagine, but is he fit enough to play 90 minutes? Absolutely! In fact you would have to be genuinely unfit to be a man in your 20's and not be able to.

The truth is simple. He's not that good. Now before the McCourt fans jump on me I'm not saying he's poor, I actually rate him quite highly. I just don't think he's close to being good enough to command a place in the current starting 11, and age isn't on his side as far as development goes.

He'll do well at another SPL club or maybe end up in the Championship.

I can give you an opinion - although not a reason as I do not know the thoughts of the management team.

My opinion is that quite simply the players that get games ahead of him are better all round football players.

    McCourt has excellent dribbling skills.

McCourt has a really good range of passing.

McCourt has a good shot on him.

    The other side:

    He isn't very fast.

He doesn't track back very often (although doesn't totally shirk his duties).

    Defensively, he isn't great.

He is no aerial threat whatsoever.

To me, he is a very good football player. Whether that transpires into him being very good in a progressive footballing side like Celtic is another story.

He does have his uses and has been worth a few points during his time at the club. I myself have witnessed terrific individual pieces of play and goals from McCourt - as well as witnessing a passing range from him that was equal to a certain Ki Seung-Yung.

Nobody is questioning if he can play a full game, I just don't think you can get a full campaign out of him. I do think we could have used him more though.

I actually don't think that has fitness has been a problem over the last season and a half. We just happen to have a very good team, and Paddy doesn't quite fit as he is a bit of a luxury. Not quite a winger, not quite a central midfielder, might have been nice to see him playing behind a striker a couple of times.

Talented player, good servant, but if first team football is what he wants then I hope he joins a decent calibre SPL side cause he would be a star in any other team.

Deep down, some are (or something to that effect).

I guess if/when McCourt goes, we'll never know how good he could have been (or how *) if he'd been given more opportunities to start games.

I'm happy I got to see a maverick footballer like McCourt in the relative glimpses we got.

Happy days, and all the best of luck to him wherever he goes to :50:

Let me rephrase that then, nobody worth listening to is saying that.

    I agree with the rest.

Id say hes more of an all rounder than sammy though, especially as a wide player, has his advantages on forrest aswell although as a winger hes a better fit, both are faster although commons has shown before speed isnt really a necessity in the spl as a wide player for celtic especially with our overlapping fullbacks. Personally for me its down to his fitness and naturally hes just not very athletic, im not saying he cant play 90 mins because he can but i dont think he could keep up with the pace aswell as others could. Theres been plenty of opportunities he couldve played a more central role which would fit his abilities even more so perhaps but even so he still gets left out.

I honestly think he's an underused, underappreciated footballing genius. Hope he gets a good few years of first team action somewhere.

I'd say it will be third time lucky for Holloway in his attempt to get Paddy. Match made in heaven.

I'd love to see him in the premiership. We've got so much quality in midfield he just never had the run of games that could have got his fitness levels up. In his spell at the club he did some amazing things on the ball, hopefully he can get that form back.

Still think he's a guy you need to play in and around the box, not deep in midfield. He's a goalscorer, but realistically he was never gonna shift Hooper, Sammy or Commons from the starting lineup.

I personally would question if he could last a full game at an acceptable level. I don't doubt his ability, and it's for this reason that I have to question why he's never been a regular?

It has to be down to his fitness. There's no other real explanation.
