Should've happened long time ago. I don't understand how he never wanted to move to a club where he will get more time than few pre-season games and 10 minutes every month in SPL.

Maybe he was happy to sit on the bench collecting wages every week, but he could give a lot to some teams, he is in prime right now. I think he'll chose MLS if he got an offer.

The question for me is why was he not sold when we could have got a fee for him ?

or are the club just being decent by making sure he will get a nice signing on fee ?

i don't mind helping any player but it does not make business sense. Good luck Paddy, i think you will find a club who are willing to play you more often than Celtic

Good luck to him, he should have left at the end of last season though, possibly even before then.

Probably about right for Paddy to move on now. He was a joy to watch when in full flow and I hope where ever he ends up next season that he stays fit and does really well.

Shocking reply to a fellow Celtic fan!

McCourt wasn't given more time because he wasn't ever fit or good enough to play more. We even tried to put him on a specialised diet and training regime to get him in better condition to play for us, but unfortunately that never worked. Paddy is to busy wanting to be one of the boys, having a smoke and a drink, and got lucky with some moments of great skill. He has that in his locker - some of his goals are fantastic, but he isn't a football player of the standard we need.

Cheerio. Can count on one hand the number of decent, meaningful performances this guy has put in over the course of his time here.

Hope his wages will be spent on somebody who can actually contribute consistently.

You don't "get lucky with some moments of great skill". I think you can make a case to say he didn't do it often enough or question his fitness but his moments of great skill were moments of great skill and it is mealy mouthed to suggest otherwise IMO.

I'll miss him and wish him all the best but if Lennon wasn't going to play him he has probably made the right decision.
