And yet when he scores a wonder goal once every few years he is legend/hero/pele...ect ect.

    It works both ways.

Because some 'fans' have a theory that people only like him because he's a Catholic from Derry and all that, so he now has a fanbase of hatred and he gets pelters whenever he plays amd doesnt score. I don't understand how people can be blaming a substitute for not winning a game.

He wasn't getting many call-ups years ago, he upped his game when he joined us. So most of the caps came when he joined us. Imagine if we had chucked Samaras after a few years of 'not being good enough'

He's not a legend, he had a really good spell and scored some amazing goals so he rightfully got plaudits.

I would like to see him started in a deep-lying playmaker role, alongside Wanyama.

Flair and imagination in central midfield is something we are crying out for, and I have a hunch he could provide it if given the chance - and the protection.

Try him out as our Pirlo, instead of our attacking supersub, and see what happens.

It's true though. Why praise a player who hasn't contributed anything in a season and a half? You say he's always unfit, that's just another reason to get rid. No point paying wages to a guy who's not adding anything to the team.

Granted he has had some good spells in games but they are far and few between....but ill agree it is tough to get game time when playing bad and hard to get better with no game time....catch 22 if you like.
But its not like he is new to the club its been 4 years now and not just one manager.
wgs,tm,lennon and how many N Ireland managers have just not used him....it cant all be down to lack of match fitness or injury it must be about what he gives to a team during a game.

McCourt did more in todays match than most players on the park. He is not good enough for high quality teams but should be getting games after European nights. He is very good at passing and dribbling, and capable of scoring goals.

All parties would be better off now if he moved on. Decent player and an obvious tim so go now before the relationship is * up forever.

McCourt and McGeoch should given more starts especially in the league after UCL midweek games. Because they do possess the creativity and that spark of magic to break down tight defences.

Surprised that a squad player is held in such low esteem by so many on here.

He is obviously wanted by the management & board,& genuinely
brings something different to the table.

A player that is living the dream, as i wish i could.

He hasn't scored or assisted many goals lately, but he also
hasn't cost us many games lately either

He's been here for four years now and done the square root of * all. Should be first man out the door in January.

That's why he's scored a few stunning goals and did more than most players today. *Rolls Eyes*

Which of those stunning goals have been important though? I'd much rather he scored a tap-in when the game is tight and we need a goal rather than a mazy dribble when we're 4-0 up against Dunfermline or St.Johnstone, even then he doesn't even do that anymore. He's started more than enough games and made a ridiculous amount of appearances from the bench over the years, and he still doesn't produce anytime it truly matters.

If a player hasn't scored or even assisted a goal in 18 months, his place in the squad should rightfully come under doubt. He'll be on a low-wage and we know we won't get much for him, so there's no real need to sell. Apparently a decent character in the dressing room too, but that doesn't win you points.

I've defended him in the past, but he's not good enough. He's just a novelty because of the songs. Punt him, let someone who might actually improve get some game time.
