He can hardly be blamed for the goal, there was more than one man on the pitch. He was responsible for giving the ball away though, which put us under pressure. Paddy's obviously never going to be a regular starter at the club so it's probably better for both if he moves on at the end of his contract. Ibrahim's still young and he played brilliantly on his debut, so I' prefer to see him getting some game time. Paddy seems to have lost his spark a bit - he's playing football a bit too conventionally now. :smiley-laughing002: If he wants to remain as an impact-sub then he has to start taking players on and beating them again and work on retaining the ball a little bit better. Doesn't really have a place in the team anymore though for me.

Sounds harsh on him because he's not got many chances but the last time I remember thinking after a game that Paddy helped us to a win was the Motherwell 2-1 game about this time last year.

I don't think United would go for that though. :smiley-laughing002:

Hahaha true. Dundee Utd would have to be on some powerful substance if they even considered that. They would probably give us a few training cones and a bovril though.

Should have sold him to Blackpool when we had the chance.

I want to ask Lennon, why play this guy? It's blatantly clear he has no future at Celtic and will play very little part. At 2-0 up why not play McGeouch who i've seen can at least defend a little or Kayal? Both players who have future's at Celtic. Sell, Sell, Sell.

This is his 5th season here. Let's be honest, how many important games can you remember McCourt producing the goods for us? I'm not talking about some meaningless 'wondergoal' against St.Mirren when we're 4-0 up (he doesn't even score them anymore). He hasn't scored or done anything of note in over 18 months.

    A waste of a jersey.

Totally agree. McCourt is never going to be an everyday Celtic player and is only in the way of those with the potential to be everyday Celtic players. He should be sold/released at the earliest opportunity.

You would need to ask Lennon that. I do think that he would not have brought him on at 1-0. Lennon thought the game was finished and Paddy lost the ball which eventually led to the 1st goal. Its only natural a bit of criticism will come his way.

But I was asking you; as like you said; it's just right that you give an opinion.

Do you think Neil Lennon would have him in the squad if he was unfit and lazy? And if so, what does that say about Neil?

If you were wanting my opinion you could have asked but i was just defending the other posters right to his opinion. Obviously he thinks he is unfit and lazy otherwise he wouldnt have posted it.

I dont think anyone would be in the squad if they were not fit but its pretty obvious Mcourt has fitness problems. He may be fit as in being as fit as he possibly can be but i think his fitness compared to others in the squad wont be in the same bracket. He also doesnt get a regular game so his match sharpness wont be great through no fault of his own. As for him being lazy , thats just the type of player he is. He is a forward thinking player who when asked to defend its alien to him. So no i wouldnt say he is lazy but if your expecting him to run back and defend then its just not his game. I said in the summer we had to let him go for his own sake, he needs to be at a club and level where he is going to play every week and its been obvious for a couple of seasons he was never going to get a regular game here.

The other poster is perfectly capable of explaining his reasoning himself and he is perfectly capable of answering questions on it.

I think the last bit is bang on though. I think he is worth keeping in the squad, as he has his talents but he will never be a regular.

    Don Devleone:
Do you remember the scene from the Godfather where they put the horse's head in the director's bed so he will put their actor in a film?
Have you made a similar threat against Lenny if he doesn't put McCourt in the team.
    Is this the horseface?

Surely not as strange as putting McCourt on the field when Kayal is on the bench. This sort of thing can only be explained by a conspiracy theory.

I'm not a big fan of PMcC.

Even less of a fan of that feckin 'Achy Breaky Heart' song! Without a doubt the worst pile of pish in our songbook!

Seems I'm in the minority though... it was sung loads today (had to turn the telly down!).
