Does this rule not only relate to provisional measures by CAS?

At the moment, there is no final verdict on this. The case is pending before the CAS. And if a case is still pending, you can't just say we're guilty. That's not how justice works. When the CAS finally comes to the conclusion that we cheated, then you can come up with this again. It's not so difficult to understand, mate.

"In agreeing to submit to these Procedural Rules any dispute subject to appeal arbitration proceedings, the parties expressly waive their rights to request such measures from state authorities. This waiver does not apply to provisional or conservatory measures in connection with disputes subject to ordinary arbitration proceedings".

Again... not a 100% sure. But as far as I understand, you can call up Civil Courts if a case is due to be resolved by the CAS but the CAS cannot guarantee to do this in time. Imagine the CAS deciding in favour of Sion in two months and us being excluded by UEFA beforehand. That's why such provisional measures can be accorded.

Not sure if you were having a pop at Silvan there Obonfanti but yes he is a Sion fan, but at no stage has he claimed so far as I know that Sion should be reinstated. I've taken his posts on the Swiss court rulings being given to help us non French speakers to understand what is going on and being said over there.

That's exactly how it is, thanks mate. Just trying to have everyone informed as good as possible.

Obviously, as a Sion fan, I cannot guarantee 100% objectivity and I would like to see my team play the group stage.

UEFA is not a Swiss association, it is administrative and controlling body for European football based in Switzerland.

On that logic the UN is an American association, the EU a French association.

'' The meeting between FC Sion, Celtic and UEFA has resumed after a long hiatus. No one knows how long the doors will remain closed. ''

looks like it will be a long day. got a bad feeling about this all of a sudden.

No chance we will not be in Madrid on Thursday, absolutely no chance.

Even if they delay the fixture or something equally stupid we should take UEFA to court for the amount of * about we have had to go through.

You should do that, yes. UEFA knew they might be overruled by either the Swiss courts or the CAS in the near future, if they took a hasty decision. Their jurisdiction is the weakest link in this scenario. Mr. Platini and Co. can now deal with the consequences.

The point I was making was that all large organisations/associations have to be based somewhere but do not 'belong' as it were to the country they are based in. Seems to be the point some are making is that because UEFA are based in Switzerland that they can't do anything without the say so of the Swiss courts.

Sion broke the rules that govern football clubs in Europe, the rules laid down by UEFA.

This sets a dangerous precedent, clubs can do what they want, get banned from UEFA and then run crying to the civil courts, the game would become a farce (an even bigger farce than Sion are making now)

Hopefully today UEFA do the right thing, uphold the ban for this year and ban Sion from all European competitions in the future, indefinetly, hand them a huge fine and send a message that if you break the rules you will be punished.

This question has not yet been resolved. For now, Sion didn't cheat, their players were officially qualified in all competitions. It's up to the courts to decide. Then UEFA, the Swiss FA and FIFA can act.

I find it stange that this new development is not being reported anywhere apart from the STV website which is not the most reliable. For me UEFA will try what they can to save face here and if it means re-instating Sion because of a Swiss courts decision i have a bad feeling they will do it just so this dosent drag out any longer. If this happens it will be a dark day for european football and after this what confidence should other teams have in UEFA, they will be looked upon as even more of a joke than they already are.
