Atletico Madrid v Celtic, September 15th

Not expecting anything from this. Just hope there's no injuries ahead of Sunday but with our luck there obviously will be.

Thought that would get your attention, the truth is though that Atletico are not as good as you think. Staying in Madrid the past 7 years, I've kept a good eye on them and without De Gea, Kun Aguero and Diego Forlan, it`s just not happening for them. If Celtic play the way they know best, fast attacking passing football with a positive mind that they can do it, they will win . We've all heard that Attack is the best form of defence, so why the * do we not do it when we visit foreign teams. Celtic will win this game if they give the opposition the same respect as they give Celtic - NONE.

Play Bangura just in behind Hooper,the guy got MOTM in his first start for AIK in a Champs league game against Rosenberg.Going to miss the game ill be workingHopefully have a good game to watch when i get home(sky+).

I wouldn't have played ki if Brown was fit because we need players that will fight for the team and break attacks up

 

There is no real pressure on us for this game, so I think if we go out and play our passing, attacking game we will do well. Im not saying we will win but give them a game anyway. I see this as a game that will prepare us for Sunday, not hinder us

 

Why would we persist in playing Samaras in the lone role up front? It hasnt worked in previous games he has played in Europe.

Sion home and away was dismal, awful football and we never looked for a minute in the home game that we were going to win that match. And away was a disaster.

I hope that Neil decides that the best side will be a straight 442 formation with Bangura and Hooper up top. Bangura will give us a far better option in my opinion. Even after only seeing him for 20 minutes on Saturday. He wants to play on the shoulder and is direct, something that Sammy is unable to be. If we are under pressure he can take us up the park, with Hooper just in behind he can link up and give us more attacking options. Again something Sammay finds difficult. The team should be the same as Saturday in my opinion, as it is the best we have played this season, by some way. Lennon needs to learn from his mistakes in Europe and this would be a start.

Better to die on our feet than surrender on our knees. By that I mean, lets play the way Celtic is known for. Players win games, not tactics.

 

I posted a few pages back saying we should play five at the back with a sweeper to cover balls in behind the defence.
Upon a re-think I say * IT!! Play 4-4-2 and go for the * throat.
Yes we maybe picked off if we leave ourselves too open but we tend to get picked off anyway when we play the cagey, defensive game. I'd rather we get pumped knowing we had a right good go than getting beat 1-0 playing with 10 men behind the ball hoping for a draw and not having any shots at goal.
We have nothing to lose and arent expected to win so why not take a few risks and we might have another Ajax away night on our hands...Here's hoping!

Don't know if El Kadd is ineligable so if he is i'd put M.Wilson at LB and play Matthews at RB.

Spot on. Our rep and that of Scottish football has taken a battering in recent weeks. It would be nice to see us at least try and play the game instead of setting up a boring match. We harp on about our players such as Ki, Kayal and Hooper being multi million pound players so why dont we let them express themselves on the big stage?

After Saturday, which was the first game this season that we have played really well, the players should be given the chance to build on that. What a boost it would be if Neil just let them go out and play their natural attacking game.

A major boost for Sunday. And if we lost, then we it will be a learning curve for the players. We lost to Sion by playing a drab and boring set up. Can we honestly say that we learned anything that way?

 

Odd's are 9/1 for us winning.

Given our dismal performances and record in Europe with a similar set up, what makes you think this will be in with a shout.

Just interested to know why anyone thinks that playing a defensive minded set up with a striker (loose term) up front that offers next to nothing.

What will happen, in my opinion, if we set up this way is that we will invite tremendous pressure onto ourselves. Pressure that will probably allow them to win the match without us ever testing them too much.

 

Has anyone been to any live beamback package held in the Kerrydale Suite? I see the club are offering this for the Madrid game and just wondered what the experience is like.

A doubt very much we will get anything from the game tommorow.

They havnt scored in a couple of games a hear, that will change when they play us.... we dont travel and havnt played a decent away game in europe since 2003, since then we have taken an absouloute pumping, every time we go away i am not 1 bit confident...............


I have just about had enough of crazy formtions and defensive tactics in these away games, the ones i really feel for are the ones traveling all over europe to watch us. Why not attack teams??? Why fear them????? A would rather go out with a bang playing attacking football rather than sitting in like rangers!!!


We will no doubt get beat but a really hope we CAN WIN, but cant see it with the likes of falcao,turan, and ribas who i feel will anayalate us.

 

I know we have a terrible away record but have a feeling we can get something from this. Hope so anyway.
