    Can't blame me with decision like that :smiley-laughing002:

    No way a team can go from third bottom of the league one year to champions the next without a little help lol.

    Apertura and Clausura system. What would be classed as half a season here is a full season there. So they have two league championships in the same time it take us to have one. Teams play each other once each "season", alternating home and away between each season. So if you play a team at home in the Apertura, you'll play them away in the Clausura*.

    Next season Argentina will change. They will have 30 teams, and everyone will play each other once. At the end of the season each team will have a second game against their local rival. This is so that international TV can show two SuperClásicos. The problem is a team like Crucero del Norte don't have a local rival in the same league, so many of the last games will be a bit of a joke.

    * In a twelve team league like Ecuador they play a home and away game like in Europe. Just squeezed into a Apertura and Clausura time frame.

    Never new it was only 19 games, that just seems mad to me:smiley-laughing002:

    Cheers for the information:50:

    River Plate were leading that league for a while they've slipped lately. Maybe because they were fighting for that other tournament they won. Copa Sudamericana.

    What was there priority or what would they rather have won out the two giving the choice, the league or the Copa Sudamericana?

    Am guessing the Copa Sudamericana, am sure you said before that was like the Europa League.

    They focused on the Sudamericana because they hadn't won a proper international tournament since the 1996 Copa Libertadores. While Boca had won eleven since 1996, so they needed to start making up some ground. River also won the first league title of the year so were willing to let this one slip.

    When River played Racing at the end of last month they played a reserve side. A top of the table tie yet they played two 18 year olds in Lucas Boyé and Sebastián Driussi up top. With a 20 year old in the middle of midfield in Guido Rodríguez. They only just lost, with Funes Mori own goal.

    It is probably why they beat Atlético Nacional over the two legs. River rested their best side while Atlético Nacional ploughed on regardless with their first team into their 80 something game of the year. It was clearly a game too far and it cost them there and in the league. Last night they lost to Santa Fe and their run of three league titles in a row ended.

    Grand final Colombia - Independiente Medellín x Santa Fe Bogota

    Grand final Ecuador - Barcelona x Emelec (Clásico del Astillero)

    Oswaldo de Oliveira makes history by becoming the first person to manage all of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo's eight big clubs.

    1999-2000 = Corinthians
    2000 = Vasco da Gama
    2001-2002 = Fluminense
    2002-2003 = São Paulo
    2003 = Flamengo
    2004 = Corinthians (again)
    2005 = Santos
    2006 = Fluminense (again)
    2012-2013 =Botafogo
    2014 = Santos (just one more go, it will work, I promise)

    And now Palmeiras. Madness :56:. Plus Tite is back at Corinthians (thinking outside the box with that one).

    The Azerbaijan government tried sponsoring Peñarol, a very traditional and cash strapped uruguayan club, in the same way they sponsor those fascist scumbag of Atletico de Madrid. But demanded that armenian descendants were forbidden to take part in the club (South America has a sizeable community of armenian refugees). Peñarol refused even though they needed the money very much. They tried a similar deal with San Lorenzo from Argentina and also got a no. Nice that in some parts of the world ethics still are more important than money at football

    Uruguay has always been one of the best countries on this, with inclusive football (over money and racism) going all the back to the glory days of Uruguay, both at national and club level. They were the first country to recognise the Armenian Genocide too. Good to see Peñarol keeping that spirit alive.

    Alianza Lima star man Mauro Guevgeozián plays for Armenia, born in Uruguay and used to play for Peñarol.
