What the *? Inter haven't lost 5 x 0 in over ten years, when they went down to São Caetano (incidentally just relegated to the fourth division).

There is no Yellow Wall, the charisma of Jürgen Klopp or the talent of Marco Reus. However, Brazilian football now has its own Borussia. Borussia Verein Blumienau (Borussia Clube Blumenau in Portuguese and Borussia Assocation of Blumenau in English) was founded in Santa Catarina on Wednesday, it has the same colours and an almost identical shield to the original German. The initiative of a group of people from Blumenau to bring titles back to the city and create a football club who identifies with the colony of German descendants in the region.

The foundation of Borussia Blumenau could not have happened at a more opportune time. The club came into existence on the day of the 31st edition of the main Oktoberfest event held in the city. Something planned to reinforce the intentions of the "yellow and black". "The idea came about last year, but the foundation date was a strategic decision because Oktoberfest will attract many people to Blumenau," explains Wanderlei Laureth, principal leader of "BVB". "We wanted to tell the story of the city and honour the families of the past. Bring the city's history into football. "

According to the manager of a branch of air conditioners sellers, the symbols of Borussia Blumenau were chosen after research. The first German settlers to come to the city in Santa Catarina came from the region of Prussia. Thus Borussia (which means Prussia in Latin) was eventually chosen as the name, bringing the colours that entrepreneurs wanted as part of the package. "We are not fans of Dortmund. But it is a club with tradition and living in a great time. We wanted to see this effect, take this story," Laureth said.

For now, the links with the Dortmund are only symbolic. But the of BVB Blumenau are already planning to contact the "German headquarters" as well as the Brazilian players who wore the shirt of the yellow and back, like Amoroso and Dede. At the moment, that is only ideas. Laureth, in contrast, shows interest in talking to theGermans, look for a partnership, while reiterating that it is not a simple process. In the search for sponsors, he has also gone after companies of German origin.

The structuring of Borussia Blumenau will start in the next few weeks. The club has the support of former athletes and entrepreneurs in the region, but Laureth is cautious and prefers not to reveal the names of its partners. Starting in November, he will look for a place in the federation and the first selection for the basic leagues. And the goal is to play in the third division of the Santa Catarina State Championship starting in 2015 "People do not see many prospects in clubs Blumenau. We want to be a championship team, representing the region, which does not existed that long," he says.

The Laureth himself says he is a supporter of Blumenau Sports Club, the cities traditional team that went bankrupt in the 1990s and was refounded in 2003. The entrepreneur worked for 50 days as a manager in the new BEC, which currently plays in the second division of the Santa Catarina [state championship]: "I learned a lot from this experience. I tried to help, I became a vice president. But there are things within the club that did not work. Let's try to do things differently with Borussia Blumenau."

Currently, Blumenau has three other clubs. In addition to the BEC and BVB, there is also Metropolitano, founded in 2002 and settled in Santa Catarina State Championship elite over the last decade. However, the average audience in the city is low, not going beyond two thousand spectators each weekend. The leaders of Borussia Blumenau are aware that they won't attract many fans instantly, and can't compete with that already established clubs. Still, they hope to gain good crowds with good results.

"We live in an German colony and hopefully they join this group. We are aware that we will not have a 'cheer leading' start. What will attract the fans is victories and honest work, we'll get this over time. Blumenau is a city with many football supporters, but few people actually follow the daily life of their club. Who is in a better phase fills up the stadium. We are in a city of 320,000 people, there is room for it," says Laureth.

For now, the biggest issue facing the club is in relation to the stadium to use for official matches. The leader said he has a good relationship with the owners of the fields of the city, for use in training and preparing the team. However, there is no municipal stadium in Blumenau and the Estádio Monumental do Sesi, used by Metropolitano, has a rent deemed too high by BVB. The new club tries to find solutions in the region, adapting some field to dispute the Santa Catarina "Terceirona". Thus, attracting the stares of other nearby cities, such as Pomerode and Indaial.

Even with his feet on the ground at the beginning, the goal of Borussia Blumenau is to become a force in regional football. "We want serious and honest work. Let's start poor but with a really clean house," explains Laureth. The foundations are laid, and if the new club can get the support of the German colony, it has a good chance to grow. Who knows, it could attract the attention of supporters of Borussia Dortmund in Brazil. Considering the large number of fans that the yellow and black's have recently won in the country, the Brazilian version already has a starting point.

Clásico del Pacífico tonight at midnight. Chile x Peru in Valparaíso. You could argue that this is the biggest national derby in South America due to the history of the two countries. It could be seen as a more "European" derby as it is built on a history of violence, with wars going back decades. The games are also quite physical, and never friendlies.

No other derby in South America has this kind of national hatred behind it, with the other traditional big games of Uruguay x Argentina and Uruguay x Brazil being built on a history of footballing excellence, instead of a history of war.

Expect Chile to win but it may not be comfortable. Even if Peru haven't won a competitive game away from home in near on a decade this game always gets them in the mood.

Brazil x Argentina in China is on STV tomorrow.

Paolo Guerrero just took a terrible penalty for Peru. Way wide of the post and it stays 0 x 0 when it should probably be 1 x 1.

EDIT: Eduardo Vargas scores for Chile.

2 x 0 to Chile. This time the free kick comes over everyone and Gary Medel simply headers down. Charles Aránguiz took the free kick, very good delivery. Took the whole Peruvian defence out of the game.

And Zambrano (St Pauli woop woop) kicked Sánchez though the add boards :56:

Edit again: Paulo Cruzado sent off for Peru. Getting heated now. Floored Medel with an elbow.

The pen appeal earlier looked more a pen than that. Messi misses another pen.

So bar one silly mistake at the back Argentina are a lot better than Brazil. Brazil aren't that fast on the counter which should be worrying for them as that is all they do.

Argentina have dominated as well and looked comfortable. Brazil sitting back too much though to stop them from scoring and not giving them much space.

I thought Messi looked great in this game as well, every touch of the ball seemed to be better than it usually is and the way he shielded the ball or passed first time, he looked in good form then the penalty was pish.

Are there any upcoming new quality Brazilians? Tardelli, Willian, Oscar up front for Brazil is a joke.

10 year ago the likes of Elber, Juninho(Lyon) and Alex of Fenerbahce would have been a better trio and they barely got a cap.

That could come in now? No.

In years to come, maybe guys like Douglas Coutinho, Gabriel Barbosa, Talisca, Luan Vieira, Luciano and Alexandre Pato is still only 25. There is still lots of players about due to Brazil's immense size, but it is slim pickings compared to those heady days.
