Most Overrated Player

Theo Walcott - has great pace but dubbed the next big thing in football was too far that lacks technical ability
Jordan Henderson - decent player but lest be honest he is nowhere near worth the 20 million that liverpool paid for him

 

arshavin, maybe not that overated but he doesnt deserve to play at a club like arsenal, so lazy, dives, complains and has a rotten attitude .... never even tried to help defend the full back today.

 

Nicolas Anelka. Never fulfilled his potential.

 

I remember Anelka being spoken about as if he'd become one of the game's true greats.

 

He should have been, he was really incredible when he burst on to the scene at Arsenal. His attitude however is and always has been awful, he has had a good career but it's not what it should have been.

 

Very lucky not to have been sent off. a stupid, lazy, selfish player. Wenger would be better off selling him

 

Aye, in a way...but at the same time, he does get a * load of stick, as well, from both his own supporters and England ones.

 

It's probably easier to say, when it comes to players in England, whose NOT overrated!

The only surprises in all these suggestions I've seen here are Gerrard and Rooney! Two players I admire greatly.

Ibrahimovic is a player who, although is still a very good player, not the Icon or world class status he beleived he deserved.

Barry Ferguson.......you'd think he was was the greatest midfielder in the history of the game if you were to beleive the 'Hun press'! Thing is...a good player!

As for Captain Co-Co Pops?... don't get me started!

 

I guess the question is - overrated where?

It's easy to pick English players by the dozen - Lescott, Barry, Rooney, Neville, Carroll, Jordan Henderson, cos they are so laughably overrated in England.

But they're not actually rated elsewhere, so they don't really count as world's most overrated. I mean I'm sure there are a number of countries who have that same weird lack of perspective on their own (absence of) importance that England seems to have.

However there is one glaring exception to this - Beckham!

People in a lot of other countries have actually heard of him - indeed in the far east he's almost the object of worship, despite the fact his entire game is really just hitting a good dead ball, and a good cross from a slow-moving ball in a wide position.

I terms of sheer hype per unit talent, got to be.

 

Apart from costing 16 million i don't see how Henderson is over-rated. He has in the main being heavily criticised since moving.

Also for me now Fernando Torres. Last couple of season's he has sucked and is NO WAY worth £50M!! At that price you'd expect him to be banging them in but he's scored 1 goal for Chelski since being bought in January.

People also expected him to be superb at the World Cup last Summer but her was pure pish there as well. I suppose it could be form but only time will tell.
