Superb save get the big man back, he can only improve on his small faults he's still very young for a goalie :50:

With all the Shay Given talk, I'd basically forgotten about him. I like him and would be pleased if we did sign, but in all honesty I'd prefer Given.

Celtic look to bring back Newcastle goalkeeper Forster

[IMG] Forster spent last season on loan at Celtic from Newcastle

Celtic have made a bid of around £1.5m to Newcastle for goalkeeper Fraser Forster after a successful loan spell at Parkhead last season. Manager Neil Lennon is keen to see Forster return to the club on a permanent basis.
The 23-year-old arrived on loan last August and went on to make 44 appearances for the club.
And despite leaving without an SPL winner's medal, Lennon wants him back.
Last month, Forster's manager at Newcastle - Alan Pardew - had cast doubt over how much benefit a season in Scotland's top-flight had provided the player.
Pardew was quoted as saying: "We've been disappointed with the quality of the games, other than the occasional Rangers versus Celtic game, and even some of those have been poor."
But the tall keeper managed 24 clean-sheets during the course of a campaign that ended with Scottish Cup victory last month against Motherwell at Hampden.
And Lennon sees him as the man to continue in the Celtic goal when they kick-off their new season at Hibernian in four week's time.

Quite happy to welcome him back. Could be a very valuable player in future.

I've voiced my concerns over him before, i.e. his command of his box is pretty *, and he usually has a few bombscare moments during a game, even if he doesn't concede from them, my heart is still in my mouth watching it. His kicking is also mediocre.

However, his shot stopping is fantastic and he obviously has a lot of potential. He's growing on me so for 1.5 million I wouldn't be ecstatic but would be happy enough I suppose.

Under 2.5m I'd take him. Would rather him than perma-injured people like Given and Gordon.

I did want a better goalie-but I don't think we will. So I would get him back as he did ok. And he knows the team so no settling in probs!!

His kicking is rather infuriating I have to say :56: Not just the length or direction of his kicks but the sheer amount of time he takes to deliver the * thing!

He needs to practice getting down to smother the work of some of the smaller guys - he is 6ft 7 after all and its maybe not the easiest to get down in a hurry. He is a competent keeper though and if we could get him as a bona fide Celtic player and not on loan I believe it would do him and us the world of good.

My main gripe with the guy is his speed. He is slow off his line, slow to get down and slow getting back up.
That will never improve with any amount of years.
But for that money and if he wants to stay (thats a big if as he still sees himself as a future England goalie :56:) then fine.
Better than spending £3million on some nut job from Bulgaria or some *.

On top of having to contend with an almost ever changing defence in front of him and playing for us in some of the most hostile atmospheres in recent memory, Forster had a great season. For those that think he cant get down they may want to review some of his games this season. He has done exceptionally well for us and I would have no problem with him again next season.

Some of our fans, never fail to amaze me. Forster will be a great keeper for this Club for many years. Sure he's got a few things to work on but he's a brilliant shot stopper and will only get better. Like someone pointed out earlier, if he went about shouting his mouth off & winding up R*ngers, some of our support who don't want him now, would be begging for him to sign on the dotted line. Sad.

People have got to remember he's only 23 and can only get better. £1.5m is a great deal imo. Lenny sign him up.
