We need a goalscorer. You only have to look at their international records to see who would score us more goals, Idrissou has 6 in 30 and Mphela has 21 in 41. We've already got two useless lumps of * that don't score, we don't need a 3rd.

No idea about Idrissou but Mphela would also suit our passing game perfectly.

    As before, he doesn't score!

We already have 2 in the same mould - bigger than Stokes & Hooper but couldn't hit a barn door with a shotgun.

Still a 'no' and can't see it changing!

Not so much as better please - moreso, better demanded!!!

    Hail Hail

whether this guy is good enough i dont know, what i do know is he's the type of striker we need, big tall lump who can play ugly when the going gets tough, we wont always be playing on good surfaces and once fir park turns into a mud bath and ICT is wet and windy we wont be able to play our usual style, may need to rever to route 1 and a player like this is necessary.

I'm pretty embarrassed that we're taking these players on trial. Surely we're a big enough club to just assess players from a distance with scout reports and that.

Celtic are taking Borussia Dortmund striker Mo Idrissou on trial and could sign the target man for a £700,000 fee. (Scunday Times)

Tbh I dont think he will score much but I think he will be more of a feeding striker in the Chris Sutton role. I don't think people should write him off yet. He is different to all our other stikers in that he obviously has a massive presence, is big and strong which is great for the SPL. He has been playing at a top level in the German Bundesliga for the last 10 years and the SPL will be a big step down for him. 700k is nothing and 31 years isnt too old. If we do sign him he will prob eb away within 2 yrs anyway. I think he could be really good in the SPL.

However, the way we are going I think we will just admire his stature for a couple of days then tell him hes not good enough just like with all the other trialists. I'm surprised he's even coming for a trial with our history.

Why all the negativity regarding trials. I have no problem with it. Hopefully it avoids making bad signings. If only we had done that with that brazilian Jobby.

Anyway I am sure it is Lennon that is making these requests. Normally coaches go watch a player after they have been identified by the scout. Not much difference. Actually if the player in question is not getting a game for his current team then a trial is the natural thing to do.

6'3 and lOOks fairly solid. But the lack of goals isn't so encouraging.

The trial system is doing my box in a bit... Where's the risk? Unheard of players I totally agree with but players with any sort of record at international level etc I think would be best just to bring them in and get them settled on a yearly contract. Thought we were gonna be a bit more active on the market but all these trialists are turning is into the most cautious team I've ever seen

Everyone says this. Unless your drogba or some top level beast alot of mid level target men aren't goal scorers but the link up, hold up and support they provide for players around them is vital. If you can make someone else score then you don't have to, even a striker. In my opinion anyway

Celtic to view striker Mohammadou Idrissou

Page last updated at 09:50 GMT, Sunday, 14 August 2011 10:50 UK

[IMG]Idrissou is a tall target manCeltic are to assess Borussia Monchengladbach striker Mohammadou Idrissou.
The Cameroon international will arrive at the club's Lennoxtown complex on Monday for a few days training.
"We have checked him out before and it is worth a look for him," said manager Neil Lennon.
The 31-year-old has spent the last 10 years playing in Germany with Hannover 96, MSV Duisburg and SC Freiburg among his former clubs.
Speaking after Saturday's 5-1 win over Dundee United, Lennon said he was confident of adding to his squad.
"Hopefully, we'll have a couple of new faces in this week," he revealed. "If not, the week after. We're working very hard behind the scenes."
Lennon denied that any goalkeeper he might sign is guaranteed to take over from Lukasz Zaluska, who was the sponsors' man-of-the-match against United.
"That's not necessarily true," he explained. "When we brought Lukasz in last season he did very well.
"He is playing well and he had no chance with the goal.
"But I need to bring a keeper in because if Lukasz gets injured then we only have Dominic Cervi and nobody else.
"So it is important that I bring another keeper regardless of Lukasz's form. We know he is a good goalkeeper."

I thought that's what a scouts job was.usually the scout watches him and if he likes what he sees then the manager usually has a wee look too.pretty poor the way I see it if a player is willing to go on trial or required to go on trial he can't be very good

This guy is not that good and has a poor goal scoring record. We have big murf as a target man so why would we bother bringing in a 31-year old who rarely scores and misses sitters
