Bit part player, yes, probably. Not good enough for the first team, not exactly. It's Celtic, not Barcelona. Not consistent enough would be more accurate, he has the ability and can do more with a ball than most of the squad and while i appreciate that some people on here think that Paddy gets too much praise, by the same token a lot of unnecessary criticism is made of him and some people are quite spiteful in their views, surely Celtic fans should get behind the players? Sure he's flawed, of course he is but nobody ever said that he wasn't. In my opinion, it's unfair to judge him based on a few 15 min spells from the bench- if it was up to me, he would start regularly and if it was apparent that he was weakening the team, then i would sell him on.

about 60mins i was shouting for either forrest or mccourt to come on for ledley or commons ( or even both ) .. to give us a more direct attack, but seeing as we only had 1 sub left, and had already scored, it was only right to bring on samaras.

I'm glad we got the goal, it was looking very like a nil nil for a while.

If you're wanting us all to get along and all have the same opinion then you should maybe try another thread.

He's been here THREE years and hasn't cracked it. Evander Sno and Crosas got hounded for less. There isn't any need for more evidence on this.

    Let it go!

A sad day at Celtic Park when we want to see 11 "Athletes" running up and down the park all day.A team of robots..... Paddy brings something to the mix that no-one else in the squad can.Too many people concentrate on what he can't do rather than relishing the magic he is capable of. Heard it all on here, Can't defend.....Bit like saying Maj can't skin four players and hit the back of the onion bag. Why can't Maj do this? Don't care because its not his f*****g job! Paddy will never flourish in a 4-4-2 however, hes not that type of player. Love Neil Warnock to take a gamble on him, whose instructions to the similarly pilloried Abel Taarabt were "Do what you like son". Worked a treat and Paddys a better player. And if he is loaned out to another SPL club, I hope he can play against us, sure we've nothing to fear if hes not good enough, or the mythically "Not Celtic Class,...". If you listened to everyone on here, all our players are s***e, then amazing followed by *. Its a joke.....

Not suited to any formation, he must be played in the 'hole' behind the striker if he's starting and formations with players having free roles seem to be fading out. A bit part player, no more.

Paddy is blessed with great natural ability but he will be seldom in the first eleven, in many respects he would be better moving on to gain regular first team football.

Should move him on can never see him being a first 11 player here and for me i think we have better options .

But if he stayed would only be a squad player nothing more .

    3 years he's been here. 3 managers he's had. 30 odd games in 3 years he's had.

Less of the name-calling. And it's halfwit. Irony. I digress. He was touted a few months back to go to Blackpool for 600k, which, in my opinion, is a good amount and would see us rake in at least 10 times what we spent on him.

We are the fans that pay money to watch him play. Ergo we're allowed to have opinions.

As much as I like Paddy, I don't feel sorry for him to be honest. Like everywhere else in the world if you don't perform you will not get a game. It's obvious he's not doing enough in training something, there has to be a reason why he doesn't get a game.

Lenny loves Paddy so its not that he doesn't like him it must be something to do with his fitness levels or training or simply others are playing better than him. And if that is the case maybe some extra training is required.

Like Lenny, he wouldn't be in my starting 11. Played 2, won 2. Why change a winning side?

I don't think that he needs our sympathy, he is picking up good wages and has the opportunity to impress the manager every day in training. I don't think that he will be a first pick for us, but he will come on and help secure the points several times a season. This is a team game that lasts 90 minutes and it's not just about the starting eleven. Paddy has a part to play and hopefully he stays around, anywhere else he would go to would be a downward step for him.

have to agree with you. those who disagree seem to have a picture of Paddy as their profile pic or have names like 'McCourt 4eva' or 'i wonna rim McCourt'. he's a bench player at best. if you want him in the starting XI you need your head checked. who would he force out? as a bench option he is started to be limited more so than ever now. Ki and Forrest have stepped up this preseason and have continued this theme into the season.

he seems to have acquired this cult image from some sections of the rank and file making criticism of him obsolete and borderline blasphemy. players have been hounded out of Parkhead for a lot less.

he's had his chances in his three year vacation here, under three different managers. he hasn't cemented his place in a starting XI. in fact, he hasn't even threatened to. he's only good for one thing and that's coming off the bench late on because it's the only time in the match where opposition players are more tired than he is.

i wouldn't care if he stays or goes. i don't want him to have more starts though. others deserve it more and offer more to the team from kick off than he does.

Not good enough. It's that simple.

A commentator during a N.Ireland friendly got it spot on.. "he's a luxury few teams can afford"
