Yeah, last night was very quiet. A few scuffles in Eltham, but the police outnumbered the kids 3 to 1 easily.

Last night, thank * was a relatively quiet night. I'd love to think we were now seeing the death of these riots than I clicked on the Scotsman link this morning to have a wee gander at the goings on in "the best wee country in the world" and I came across this

Alex Salmond: Scotland safer than England

I swear every time that man opens his * mouth is one big face palm moment :31:

Also came across this piece online this morning.

Good enough for me and sums up things very succinctly. :50:

The only website I've read that has used the whole "they are oppressed, they have an excuse" is Le Monde - and with them it was a weird kind of schadenfreude. I remember you posted a link which was supposed to show how the BBC was doing this and one of the interviewees in the article actually said the opposite - that the BBC wasn't understanding enough and that they were talking about the vandalism with no context. I've only seen one article on the Guardian which talks about there being roots to this problem in social discontent.

This happened with the whole BBM thing, where you assumed they were doing nothing when in actuality RIM is actually doing all that is technically possible to help the police. (I didn't respond to your post back then but RIM has already handed over information you said they wouldn't/couldn't)

Completely agree mate. This far left wing attitude to this disgusting situation many are adopting is sickening. They would rather focus all their attention on police brutality while saying the people doing it had a bad upbringing and are poor when they are still better off than 90% of the world!

What is even more tragic about all this, the animals that caused this won't be brought to justice like they deserve. Since all you lefties are doing your best to protect these degenerate thugs and would rather see a policeman heavily punished. You people are going to destroy this country with your foolish brainwashed liberal views. This will happen again no doubt. Will probably be worse, could be in Scotland.

You're not reading a lot of the blogs and opinion pieces emanating from the UK then and also not listening to UK radio shows or watching some of the UK TV shows and people interviewed on them.

As for RIM handing over information on people associated with the riots, have you got a link to that? I'd like to read that as I've heard or seen nothing to back that claim although I do know the UK govt officially asked RIM for that info.

I meant in a genral sense as in the day to day work they do.

they shot that man lawfully. and if that girl was looting or being a part of the looting then i have absalutly no remorse for her being slapped round the head. Its not her i feel sorry for, its the peoples whose homes have been destroyed and others who have been put into danger by these mindless thugs.

imagine your house being burnt down? because i know how angry/hurt and upset i would be. imagine your shop being ramsacked? like the local jewellers who is in his 60's and had the small business all his life.

I sometimes wonder why we always turn on authorty in cases like this. if you ask me they were not nearly tough enough with the "rioters". they have shamed a full city/country with their mindless looting. apart from the initial day (or couple of hours of that day, then in no way did this resemble a protest).

these people who say ahh its hard times, or its because the police dont treat us with repect etc etc, need to remember just because you cannit afford a brand new pair of trainers doesnt mean you can just go and take them!

no doubt there riots have cost the tax payer a fortune in policing etc

If parents were daft/idiotic enough to let there 16 year old girsl run about in riots and 11 year old boys, then IMO they cannit complain when they inevitably get hurt.

i feel absalutly zero remorse for those looters who end up getting a slap off police, the people i feel sorry for is the policmans kids wondering why there mam/dad hasnt come home for hours upon hours. or those kids and partners who understand the risk the husband/wife are facing on the streets.

i would have zero hesistation if someone tried to burn down my house or loot my shop or even be part of it to give them what for. if that means its a 16 year old girl or a 12 year old boy. old enought to be part of this madness then unfortuinitly IMO you loose the right to be looked upon as a kid or by gender.

however hand i do relate to your points and i suppose evryone has their own.:50:

Big Eek is right we do have a different society - one where a football manager can be sent bombs via post and be blamed for inciting such actions by simply being himself!

Wrong time to be taking the moral high ground, we have plenty of our own problems.

Our cities in Scotland are becoming more and more like London. Rioting will happen here eventually.

It's the fact that Scotland - Glasgow in particular has one of the highest murder rates in Europe that shocks you about Salmond when he comes out with jibberish.

    * needs to keep his mouth shut.

Glasgow = Shitehole full of the worse arseholes you could possibly find in society..... oh wait. :52: :icon_mrgreen:

We should aspire to be more like the Edinburgh folk, having a wee game a ring-a-ring a roses instead. :icon_mrgreen::56:

I'm convinced it couldn't happen up here; they'd all end up stabbing * out of each other and forget about the rioting.

No chance it would happen here! It would mean that people on both sides of the green and blue divide you need to riot without kicking each other's heads in! Plus the looters stole booze, and then used it as an accelerant, no chance Scottish people would pour booze out.

Aye you've got the divide and then you've got the different schemes. Somebody would recognise somebody, all * would break loose between each and BAM no neds in Glasgow.

Maybe somebody should start this on second thoughts? :97:

Nah tbh I think en mass Scottish people wouldnt riot. On their own or in small groups scottish folks can be right wanks. But in Glasgow everyone gives their seat on the bus or holds doors open. I saw a junkie , right out his tree, give his seat up for a wee granny. I am not saying that this doesnt go on elsewhere, but I just think we have a large percentage of bams but a lot still have their manners haha
