I'm not condoning the rioting. just trying to understand it. so if everyone was like you there would be no poverty? Balls. we all know there is not enough jobs in this country and even if there was, people would still be exploited. In capitalism there has to be rich and poor, if everyone was equal then how could the rich afford his merc and mansion? He'd have no one to rip off would he?

Aye that man was very composed in front of the camera, totally dignified. (well if its the same one I saw earlier).

I hope the asian community stay strong and do not seek any sort of revenge as I fear it could snowball if they do.

To be honest, yes...he should have got enough slaps to make him think twice next time because it's the only way half these wee * will ever learn anything.

Or.. it would make the kid even more distanced from authority and more likely to become a menace to society later on life rather than of any benefit to it.

Likeliehood is once the kids are out on the street taking part in the riots they are beyond help, but surely whacking them ''just so they get the message' is not really the way forward. Showing enough strength to regain control of the streets sure! That is needed, but the police being as mindless in their violence will bring no good to the situation.

Rachael, with all due respect I understand what you're saying but sometimes rough justice is the only thing these wee * understand.

I have no problem with the fact those coppers gave that wee * a few slaps. Maybe next time he considers pilfering something that isn't his he'll stop and think twice. The UK has been far too soft on crime and the youth of the country for 30 odd years now. Unless there's a strong deterrent it'll just get worse and worse.

Personally mate I couldn't give a toss if others were like me or not, the simple fact is nothing....zero, nada justifies rioting and looting. This was not some lawful peaceful protest, it was complete mob rule with zero respect for either the rule of law, or for the owners of property and businesses, many from the same areas of the rioters and many who had worked their collective balls of for generations to build those businesses.

And please spare me any rhetoric about capitalism. There's the same if not more poverty in socialist countries. The fact those scum were busy stealing plasma TV's and the latest trainers instead of joining hands and singing kumbaya tells me that they hold as much belief in socialism as Bill Gates does.

Yes it was a lad on a bike,a lad who actually got off the bike when the cops came round the corner.

He could have been watching, how do you know he was involved ?

    The Cop should be charged.

I never knew there was a curfew, why is this lad not allowed out at this time ?

I'm not saying these people had any particular reason for what they are doing, other than to rob and cause trouble and there is no way in condoning it, in fact I think its disgusting but I do think that poverty has at least a part to play in it and its a lot more complex than saying "their poor". Thats just naive.

Looking through some of these posts is extremely worrying. Are so many of you that intent on clinging to your left wing liberal mentality (brainwashed?) that you won't admit the truth. And instead make excuses for these animals that are now sitting watching their brand new HD TV after burning their neighbours house down and mugging innocent civilians. which I can't afford when I work hard for a living.

People against the riots can't even state their views fully for fear of being labeled a racist or not politically correct. I never knew the term politically correct meant not expressing on your views on what we see is happening at the moment,

I'm really concerned for the future of this country when I see so many people hiding from the truth because they have this ridiculous liberal mentality they are clinging to so tightly. For fear of what? The BNP? The majority of even the most right wing of people despise those thugs.

That to me is police brutality, the guys on bikes were putting up no resistance what so ever, the police were too heavy handed in that situation.

That's because they had thought they had got away on their bikes after rioting, if they had the chance to they would have acted like animals.

They should have been light handed right enough. The people they were trying to arrest were only completely out of control.
