I'm confident we'll have our goalie and a further striker by the time the window closes.

Be surprised if we signed another central defender though. If, as Mjallby's suggested, Wanyama is being groomed for CB, then we have about eight on our books - Mulgrew, K Wilson, Maj, Rogne, Loovens, Hooiveld, O'Dea, Wanyama, Thompson - nine actually. Even if we offload a couple, can't see us bringing anyone in.

Doesn't really bother me tbh - Mulgrew and Wilson as 1st choice, Maj and Rogne as cover.
Good keeper behind them and I'm happy.

With make or break games coming up, this should have been sorted long ago. Zaloooshka is not good enough. A keeper should have nee in before Australia.

Agree on the first point and have been saying it for some time - the board decided not to invest in the team to allow them to survive, as the league that we play in is far more marketable with them in it - unfortunately.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Looking at the bigger picture, however I believe a go it alone attempt, either into the epl or a north Atlantic league is the way to go and I'd be disappointed if the board didn't sound this out at the time - i.e. ask all the other clubs, FA, etc; 'would you take Celtic into your league if we were to come alone and ensure that the trouble the other lot bring wouldn't be an issue, as they wouldn't be there'<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
If the answer was a 'yes, Celtic you're welcome' then we should have buried them! <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
However we will never know what goes on within the corridors of power at CP.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Re signings - I do believe if the board don't think they have to spend the money, they won't. Much to the anguish of everyone who loves our club - including our manager.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
After all - we have no idea just how much our transfer budget is this year and it could be that we have already spent it! This would be incredibly sad, as Lenny & Celtic in general, would be suffering for the mistake that was Mowbray!

Granted though a club should never reveal it's transfer budget for the obvious reasons.
    <o:p></o:p>
Again though, we may never know - but we do still have another 4 weeks of open transfer window, so time will tell.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Re the board - hopefully they're not laughing at us. I would like to think that they have every intention of seeing Celtic succeed in every possible area, both on & off the field. <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
The board are clearly doing well in terms of running the club as a business, minus the Mowbray debacle, but in order for a business to succeed overall, it must succeed in all areas, which means we MUST have a league winning side and Champions League football and hopefully we will have that this year, next year and for many years to come.

For as you have stated, we deserve it!

    Hail Hail

I agree with most of the comments on this thread. Im extremely frustrated at the lack of transfer activity at CP and the players we have signed are not guys who are the finished article, they will have to develop.

I think we should have a GK, CB & a ST in ASAP or risk coming second again.

anyone think after watching milan game on sat we not good enough too qualify for europa league. poor milan reserve team easy beat us without trying a leg, can board not see investment will bring success, we soon be unseeded in europe all time after our poor run in europe over past few years, make it harder too qualify. our board needs wakening up

Possibly mate and there are quite a few teams that will give us a hard game in the play off round.

Need to invest in a good goalie now...also a Cb and a big battering ram type centre forward to give us a different option up front in some matches...the board need to pull their finger out as they will get the money back as the winners of this years league go straight to the knockout stages of the champions league rather than the qualifiers that the scum are in now......................

As always there's no budget. We'll spend as little as possible to get the quality we want.

    * knows! I gave up wondering about that. Back in MON days he got his up front. THat is what Lenny should have got last year when he had such a job to do to re-build. Now they look across at the blue mob and do as little as they can to stay in touch. Sad.

Lenny explained his transfer policy. He doesn't get a set amount, he approaches the board with options to sign and they consider them and then give them the money he needs, usually a few million.

    i think were skint

I hope im wrong and im laughing at the huns missing every player they go for but the reality in my opinion is were both skint.

weve messed about looking for a keeper , centre halfs and a striker and the deadline is 4 days away for the europa league ( where surely is our best source of income this year ).We clearly dont have a side capable of winning it so whats going on ?

Europe isn't priority this season though, so more time for spl transfer deadline to get a goalie in.

We simply have to move players on, most likely by loan (as usual).

We've spent a fair bit in recent seasons, mostly on * - that we now can't sell on: Juarez, Hooiveld, Rasmussen, Murphy.

I know that sounds harsh, but it's true for Celtic - none of them got many games & they all cost money - none of which we will be getting back.

The Squad is too big, how the * can we add to it? Without cutting it?

Juarez, McGinn & now O'Dea have gone on loan, it's a start in terms of wagebill - but I's love to see them sold.
