  1. Too true. And if there's one more annoying thing than the lack of activity into Celtic is the lack of shifting out the deadwood and getting wages sorted.

  2. There's a story in today's Express that we're trying to get Forster on loan again.

  3. NAW, NAW, NAW, NAW, NAW, NAW!:31:

No harm to Forster, but let's stop fannying about and get a keeper of our own! I know we are skint, but we ain't that skint if we've been trying to negotiate wage deals with the likes of Man City.

  4. You don't rate Forster then, even with the amount of clean sheets he got last season?

I'd love to see him back. Needs to improve his distribution though.

  5. Waste of time developing a player for another team who wont sell him to us. Unless we buy him or loan him with some kind of fee agreed then i would move on and get us someone who can be our number one for the next 5 seasons!

  6. Harte
    Cech
    Valdes
    Caesar
    Casillas

You put McGreggor in with those keepers?

He'd maybe make top 50 and that's being generous.

Lenny is no fool and he won't suffer a fool.

But I hope this is sorted for the EL registrations cause Zaluska is a bombscare.

  7. My point exactly. Don't get me wrong, Forster is a good keeper. But the goalkeeper is part of the spine of your starting lineup, and considering we are still building a youngish side, I want a keeper that will be with us for some time. A loan deal for an auxiliary striker, or a winger or something is a different kettle of fish entirely.

  8. Not starting on you mate, I can tell you disagree:50:

However, I stand by my statement 100%. Putting aside his questionable character (and who he plays for!), he is a wonderful talent. He could easily play for Arsenal or Tottenham (they need keepers badly) for example, and improve them tenfold. Goram was the same.

He made all the right noises however when it cam to it he didnt want to take a wage cut !! simples

  9. We have a right to be angry, in my opinion.

We're digging about for gems, loan signings and free transfers. That's not bad for a while but we should have splashed out the cash to bring in a goal-keeper that we already know is quality by now.

We must stop 4IAR, make an impression in Europe and Lennon must keep his job.

This is a very important season.

Celtic must get the finger out, we can't risk bringing in a goal-keeper that isn't good enough.

  10. This.

  11. we need to go and buy a keeper i like the pole get him

  12. That answers you question i am glad they are not being rushed into anything and not being bent over by players expecting high wage demands like bullard, james and campbell last season. We have learnt alot and the only player who is similar this season is bellamy but he needs the money for his charity and has always maintained that cardiff is where his heart belongs

whereas rangers have had knock backs right left and centre gaining a reputation of £800,000 plus add ons.

You have to chose your player and begin discussions with the players club

  13. and breathe! right you along with others need to relax a bit here. i would rather we took our time, got the right keeper, and for the right price!dont want us go buying * for the sake of it. after all we only need 2-3 players max!

  14. Fed up complaining about how poor a board we have. The idiots have cost us * millions with their penny pinching.

This season has to be their last chance surely?

  15. I'm not usually one who goes in for slagging the board or Neil Lennon but on the subject of the goalkeeper situation I feel I have to break rank.

It's a joke that the season is now underway and we still have not got a first choice goalkeeper on the books. It's been over 2 months since the Scottish Cup Final and still we seem to be no nearer to replacing Fraser Forster. It's not good enough imo. Ok we have Zaluska on our books, and I think he's capable of filling in for a few games, but the fact that Neil Lennon clearly wants another GK yet we still don't have one, does leave me with the impression that the men at the top are penny pinching. If that's what's going on it's a poor * show.

Neil Lennon has re-built that team and squad for buttons. The least the board could do is reward him by letting him push the boat out a bit to bring in a good goalkeeper. When I say push the boat out I don't mean spending £5-6million, I mean spending a reasonable amount. For example, if Newcastle want £3million for Fraser Forster, and Neil Lennon wants Fraser Forster, then we should just go and do the deal.

I don't mind our money men haggling over transfer fees during the summer months but when it gets to this stage in the proceedings I think the time for haggling is over. We need to get out there and get a deal done.

    Come on Celtic.

  16. Fraser Forster was only a short term solution, we should have been looking for a replacement while he was here, because there was no guarentee that we could have got forster. We dont know what goe's on behind closed doors, but goalkeeper was #1 position to be filled since last season. Forster done it temporarily, and its unlucky that we didnt get him, but we should have a list of targets. If we dont get #1, go for #2, and so on, so forth!

saying that, we dont actually know whats going on, i would of been happy with forster, i think alot of fans would have, maybe we just werent prepared to meet the magpies valuation, i dunno. i used to back zaluska up 2 years ago, but a few bad games and im afraid he wont be forgiven!

oh, and i really didnt see given coming here at all, think alot of us didnt expect him to come here, we just would of liked it

  17. I agree with prof, smacks of penny pinching to me, the gk position and upfront.

  18. We have to make a bid for him to accept it. It's that simple. We are skint.

  19. Usually we haven't even started the league yet but the SPL starting early has done us in a bit

Clubs around europe have only just recently started their pre-seasons so the players we're after having been back from their hols that long so i can see how its difficult to get the players we want in

GK is a very important position and i agree with the points that this should be the clubs priority and urgent at that but if a club is going to sell their keeper to us there's a good chance they want to line a replacement up before a deal is done

Of the ones we have been linked with:

Given - never gona happen due to wages
Forster - his club said they want to take a look at him see if he can be no1
Pletikosa - Lenny deemed him not to be good enough
Stijnen - refused to play in a trial game

    So we are trying
