Anyone think this guy will ever recapture his form, i used to think he would after he got a few goals or when he joined chelsea i thought that would kick him on but after seeing him there now against some asian team im beginning to doubt it, not just fact he aint scoring goals but his all round game is pretty poor along with his work rate.
I never thought he was the best striker in the world but he was certainly top 5, but thats going back near 2 years now.

Ive never rated him. He is woeful outside the box, his link-up and touch has always been poor. He never kicked a ball for Liverpool in Europe and is suited to English football, since he lost a yard of pace he's slipping away and id maybe rate Darren Bent higher now.

Same. I have always said that to my pals.

He doesn't have a clue what he's about to do when he has the ball at feet.

Just a wee stupid theory but he always seemed to play much better when is hair was died blonde :icon_mrgreen: so all he has get has blonde hair back and he recaptures his form simple as that.

    :50:

He used to have a good burst of pace and used it to race in behind players and score but he's lost that, now hes just a basic player with no stand out ability.

He was always * in Europe because you have to keep the ball better and he had to play deeper, but everytime he got the ball he gave it away..

Liverpool must still be laughing that they got £50million for him. He can score goals in England hes probably not as bad as he seems who knows whats happening but all he ever is was or has been was a decent goalscorer in the english League. Hes never kicked a ball for Spain either not suited to their style.

I remember always thinking when he was scoring 25 a season in his first 2 years at Liverpool and the English press etc were calling him the best striker in the world... can no one else see the guy cant trap a bag of cement and loses the ball really every time he gets it when hes outside the box.

Eevn at his best he was never better than David Villa. Could never understand how people rated him above Villa.

He was one of the best strikers in the world a few seasons ago there is no denying it, it's an undisputable fact.

He's lost it though imo and he will never get it fully back.

the thing was he scored alot of goals for liverpool but at that time there werent many other players scoring for them he was there main man i dont think it will be the same at chelsea plus i think he was over priced at 50 million but i think that was only due to his premiership scoring record

Torres was really poor throughout all of last season, as someone said above he lost that extra yard burst he used to break the back line up and he plain and simply looks poor. Few years ago he was one of the best in the world, some of his finishes were amazing, but injuries seem to have the better of him now, Liverpool got a very good deal at 50 million.

Does anyone else see Hernandez of Man U going the same way?

I find him similar to Torres in that hes been hyped right up even though he is basically a goal poacher who is poor outside the box. As soon as Hernandez hits a dry patch people will start questioning him like they did Torres and he could crumble too.

Still early days with Hernandez he could be the new Inzaghi but he could also end up a poor mans Michael Owen.

Atm you can only judge him on what he's done and so far he's been brilliant for utd, for the record i think hernandez is a smarter player than torres regarding his of the ball movement and he chases players down something torres has never done.
Torres 2 years ago was still better obviously but atm id rather chico.

Lot of foolish talk goes around whenever people discuss Fernando. Little disappointing this place is no different. He's a world class player and his time will soon be again. A real game-changer on his day. Only 27 so should be able to play at the top for another few years.

lets not forget it wasn't just a couple of good seasons at Liverpool, he was a good player at Athletico Madrid, never quite broke 20 goals but always did alright. 50 million was a bizarre price to pay however but i suppose thats Chelsea

I used to be of this opinion but he's been poor for a ridiculously long time considering he is/was a 'world class' player.

I think he was a world class goalscorer for 2-3 years, just like Michael Owen was for 4/5 when he was young. Wouldnt call him a world class player though, would only say that if he was that good for 10 years or so like an Inzaghi or Trezeguet.

If your a poacher who scores consistently for say 2/3 years or more at the highest level including the CL league then i think its fair to call them a world class goalscorer.
Just like torres was world class but i wouldn't call him world class now, i wouldn't call hernandez world class unless he does it consistently for the next few years at the very top.

Vidic has had him in his pocket in recent games, 2 years ago he did give vidic an absolute roasting but thats the point it was donkeys ago.
