Yep, over ten years ago now. But when the salaries were rising highly, and the dollar not being strong they couldnt hold thier own so they were moved. But the Jets to Pheonix? it's doing even worse there. Plus everyone in Winnipeg wants them back. Happened with the Nordiques too, but also since it was an all French team that the NHL wanted it moved (politics and marketing).

 

Anyone watch the Winter Classic last night? Detroit vs Chicago outside on Wrigley Field. I totally forgot about it and the ChickenWings won 6-4 against the B´Hawks

 

It was on at 10am on New Years, i was still in bed

This year being the 100th anniversary of the Montreal Canadiens and the 50th anniversary of Willie O'Ree becoming the first black player in the NHL, I was wondering if there are any fans of the NHL on here.

Myself I'm a huge Blues fan, we're last in the Western Conference right now but I'll never give up hope that we'll make the playoffs this year. T.J. Oshie is the next Mario Lemeiux!!

Oh, and hahahaha, you're dreaming if he's the next Lemieux! I don't think you fully realize what Mario did if you're thinkin of Oshie in that way!

I think you're quite insane. Oshie is 22 and has 36 points in his first year. When Mario was 19, he had 100 points his first year. If by the end of Oshie's career, he is well known, one of the best players in history and basically has an average of two points a game, then I'll agree with you.

 

haha hey man it's a different kind of game now and everyone knows the blues are *, i'm not saying he's mario now but i already think he's as good as that * crosby. you see the hits he put on rick nash today and yesterday? holy *, taking none of said *. he's fast, maybe not as fast as crosby, but he's way more badass than crosby and imo just as good a stickhandler/playmaker. got a ways to go before everyone else recognizes outside of st. louis though

 

My brother went to Canada for one year exchange student and when he came back, he bragging on about the maple leafs, he got me hooked on the team and we used to watch Tie Domi fights ha ha

I dont really keep up with the NHL anymore but I check on the maple leafs sometimes

I dont even know who won the Stanley Cup recently

 

I've seen him play and he doesn't scream allstar, not even potential star imo. If anything he'll just be a solid player.

Hahaha, yea Domi was quite a bruiser. But the Leafs aren't anything to brag about :icon_mrgreen:.

Haha, you got that right, this is the first I have heard it.
Cody Hodgson will be a star next year for Vancouver, great young player. As will John Tavares, whoever he gets picked up by in the draft.
