    Let me see.....

He had his best season for us last season did he?.........
    Ok, I'll buy that.
Was he our best player last season?
No....nor the season before, or the one before that, or before that!
In fact, not only has he never been our player of ANY season, he hasn't even been our best midfielder of any season. not even close to it.
Does he show the leadership qualities to justify him being Celtic captain?
Not for me. If other players were to follow his example, I fear our disciplinary record would be far worse than it is. He's too much of a loose cannon.
Finnally, he only becomes more effective when he is pushed wide right because Kyal and Ledley do the job he has supposed to be doing for the past years better than he ever could.

6M for him? Yes please and I'll drive him where ever he wants to go free of charge!

Was it not one of these seasons he was voted best player in Scotland? Player of the Year....

    Good logic there.

He's a hater and always will be obviously. Brown was excellent this season and two seasons ago he was our best player. How people can say he was * when he was injured is just laughable which he was for almost the whole of Mowbray's term in charge. We were * without him.

Even if he does sign a new deal, if Newcastle came in with a good bid he'll be sold. I'm unsure yet if I would want him sold, he done a fantastic job last season but maybe it could be the time to let him go.

If the rumours are true he's on 24k a week I certainly hope he isn't getting a wage increase.

Listen, I know other players and managers think he can play....as do other Celtic fans but I don't get with him. Never could.
I just don't think he brings enough to the team, neither his passing, tackling, crossing is good enough. Gives the ball away too often and doesn't score nearly enough goals.
Scotland's player of the year maybe........but not Celtic's in the time he has been here in my opinion.

I doubt he will be, just an extension.

We need to keep Broony, when he plays we win.

So that year he was Scotland's player of the year but not Celtic's? :97:

    Very odd...

eh..yes he was. He was POTY in his 2nd season with us two seasons ago. Him and Caldwell won the different POTY awards.

After that he was essentially never fully injury free and match fit for nearly a season and a half until Xmas past. People who judge him on that period just dont like him IMO because its irrational to judge him on a period when he was not fit. He cant be expected to be decent when not fit.

Since he has ben fully fit since Xmas he has been excellent and IMO a crucial force in this side. People also forget that Broony was good in his first season including some great performances in the CL until the tragedy of his sister became a factor. I think in general Broony has done a good job for us when match fit and his constant selection by all managers bares this out. He is definately worth the 6 million being bandied about but I think he is entering his peak years now and will be a huge asset to us over the next few seasons. There is no doubt in my mind that we tend to win when he plays compared to when he doesnt.

Nothing odd about it. I just don't think he has ever been our best player, or even midfielder in any season, let alone Scotlands.

I am in two minds over Brown. He was very good on the right last year and gave us a strength down there that some of the natural wingers don't provide. His personal life problems are well documented, and must have contributed to his drop in form in the season before last.

Having said that, if he doesn't sign a new contract very soon, you have to look at £6M as a very good price tag for someone going into the last year of his current deal.

I would be tempted to take the cash on balance.

The haters just hate him and gloss over/explain away anything good he does and remembers every stray pass. Because of them I have watched and kept a mental tally of stray passes and in many games Broony actually hit less stray passes than anyone else including Kayal, Ledley, Ki etc. It is a myth IMO. An element of our fans dislike him and focus bulge-eyed on one or two stray passes he makes. I have been beside fans last season who were so rabidly against him that they were blaming him of bad passes he hadnt made - he had been subbed!!! People JUSTIFY there dislike of him with all sorts of arguements but I think its simply drumming up justification for an already ingrained dislike of the guy. Anyone who cant see the advantages he brings to us (which can be statistically shown) really doesnt understand football, probably thinks football is all about pretty passing. Great teams have always needed someone like Broony. If you have too few players like him then you end up with pretty but losing football. Thank * football managers are not as daft as some fans.

No, being unfit and need two operations on his ankle over an 18 month period is why he played poor under Mogga and was back fit until late last year. Why do people keep claiming he lost form. He was not free of his problem ankle injury and fully match fit from about May 2009 until late 2010. Anyone who judges him on that period just doesnt want to like the guy.

    Again totally agree.

The bolded part wasn't a myth not so long ago but the thing with Scott Brown is that he played with an injured right ankle for so long that people started thinking that was him at 100%. This effected his passing an people are just to blind to notice that his passing percentages must be up in the mid-90's% since then.

I can remember 2 absolute quality defence splitting passes from him this year and that is just off the top of my head because they were massive games. His ball to Samaras in the 1-0 Old Firm match that Samaras hit the post with and the ball to Kris Commons that Commons really should have scored with but went for the pass to Hooper.

People dislike Broony for a baffling reason - because he is the most expensive player in our team and people say 'he is a Hun'. Bullshit he grew up in Fife, most likely a Dunfermline fan.

I love Broony, to the haters out there can you name me 3 matches that Scott Brown didn't play in last year where we played well or actually had a good result?

Spot on mate:50: These fans that you speak of never remember or talk of his pass to Commons in the Cup Final either. That was a fantastic ball played at the perfect pace. Shame it didn't end up in the net.

Yeah, every team needs a player that will harass their opponents and stop them playing. One of my favourite performances this season was the match v Dundee Utd at home near the end when Kayal and Brown looked completely possessed, chasing down every single ball. If Brown was a bit more technically gifted in terms of first touch etc, he'd be one of the best in Britain with the engine he has. I'll settle for what he gives us though and as you say, he ain't bad on the ball either.

    That's a load of rubbish!

I and many Celtic fans just don't think he's a very good player. Thats all.
I've never known a Celtic player to divide the support as much. I don't hate ANY Celtic player past or present, maybe with the exception of Mojo...maybe, and I went as mental as anyone else when he scored against the Huns last season but he just doesn't do it often enough. If he stays and proves me wrong I'll be delighted and eat all the humble pie that's going but I'm not holding my breath.

He deserves a new contract! This has been his best season and he offers something different to the right midfield position. If he decides he wants to leave it means we will get a decent price for him as well.

6m!? Sounds tempting. But I'd rather we keep our Scottish players as much as possible. He was ok last season, so get it signed Broony.
