Ledley on the new kit and fans

Great player, I bet the same people who critisize him think brown is a good footballer

 

Wasnt overly impressed with his 1st half of the season but since kayal came back in january joe has really stepped it up, they compliment eachother well in midfield.

 

Personally I dont like left footed players

 

Thompson, Naka, Commons and Izzy?

 

fantastic player. very very rarely gives the ball away. makes good runs into the box. formed a good partnership with kayal which could be vital for our success next year. scores a few, and quite important, goals. his left foot gives us more attacking options. his work rate is fantastic. he covers well for players like izzy and commons as they bomb forward. but most importantly, he is very very consistent.

easily the most underrated player in scotland.

He is not the player we thought we were getting. Ended up essentially doing a fetch and carry role in the CM. I dont think he is crap but he was also massively overhyped by our fans for 2 or 3 reasonable months post-New Year. However, he was part of the best MF combo we stumbled on last season and seems like he grafts to let others play. I think when Ki learns the tracking part of the CM role he will be far better than Ledley.

 

It's easy to under-estimate his importance to the team mate. Next season, if you really concentrate on his play, you'll see how good he is. Gives great balance to the team, often wins us the ball back, almost never gives the ball away, provides a goal threat, rarely loses the midfiled battle. He is very much an unsung hero, though it is clear that the majority appreciate the job he does. He and Kayal are the absolutely key components of our team.

 

I agree with that bit. Its his main function IMO. It would be impossible to have a FB play that way without it. Izzys side looked a disaster defensively when Ledley was away.

 

The usual really. Because he doesnt score 60 yard screamers and skin the entire team hes no good. He does everything he needs to and does it well. Hes what every team needs.

 

Load of rubbish this thread. We truly struggled without ledley against ict. Kayal wasn't as good without him, izzy was rubbish without him. Our midfield needs Joe ledley to be successful

world class player we got for nothing, he has been excellent most times ive seen him and we did fight off strong interest from premiership and foreign teams to get him, well worth the wages and more tbh

 

The OP is entitled to his opinion but i think joe ledley is our most important player. We don't have a good balance without him

 

He's the best we could get for the middle of the park. Not as fancy as Kayal bu essentially just as good.

He reminds me of Chris Sutton when we played him in midfield. Sutton was as consistant as there was and done the business every time he went on the Park with a bit of class, Ledley does just the same.

First name on the team sheet for me, as ive felt worried in games he's not been fit. Him and Kayal win games by dominating the middle, when one is out the team drops in standard.

 

Very ordinary and gets a good write up by the fans for some reason. Don't mind him but he's not the best or he would be impressing better sides than us.

Brown, Ki and Kayal should be our 3 first choices imo. We had our worst spell of the season with Ledley and Ki.

 

The key question here is, what did you expect from him?

Did you expect an attacking, goal scoring, fancy flicks type player? Because that's not Ledley.

He's a fantastic passer, has good vision, good first touch and is an essential ball winner within the team.

Watch him more carefully next time he plays and one thing you'll notice is how many crucial tackles and interceptions he makes.

 

This is it though Minty. I have watched him closely. Very closely. I don't agree with your assessment of the player. He's decent and nothing more. Brown got slagged off for scoring a similar amount also which I won't hold against Ledley as Celtic 2 man mids will never score many.

 

Im a fan of all four but Kayal and Ledley are a level above Brown and Ki, Kayl and Ledley can do everything, Ki lacks the defensive solidity of Ledley and Brown lacks the passing of Kayal.

 

What? I really need to watch these games your watching Ledley in lol. I certainly wouldn't have Ledley in my Scotland team if I could.
