Mr Strachan

i have just listened in to a radio station call in show and have listened to some celtic fans complaining about mr strachans post match interview at fir park.
mr strachan is being accused of rudeness and embarrassing the club by his words and actions.
i missed this interview.
can anyone fill us in on the interview and what went on.

i never seen the interview in question but every time he's on tv he trys 2 come across as a smart * !!!

 

yeah agreed. he can be a bit abrasive. he has admitted this is down to being nervous though as he isnt comfortable in that situation.

 

He had a very relaxed attitude and said he was tired of hearing talk of transfer rumours, and that the reporters can ask him questions on Thursday because him and his squad were taking a well-earned break from what I recall. He didn't come across as rude to me? He can be pretty arrogant though.

 

its alleged he walked away laughing and ended interview cos reporter asked him a question about individual players, and he said he wouldnt answer questions about individuals. ??????

Strachan told the reporter he would not answer questions on individual players. So the * of a reporter asked him about Gravesen and WGS said again he wouldn't answer about individuals then the * asked him a third time and the wee man walked away. Where is the problem with that. He treats these people with the contempt they deserve and I for one have no problem with it.

 

seems no problem to me. just wanted to hear what happenned from tic fans and not the fudbunny on the radio who clearly has an allegiance with a club that isnt celtic.

He was asked about the signing of Elvis and he said something along the lines:

I'm not going to tell you about Elvis because you can log into the celtic website to see what I said and I won't repeat it just for you

 

in my opinion i believe our manager has a real issue when it comes to his personna in the media. he comes accross as trying to be a smartass a lot of the time. his reply to the question " can i have a quick word gordon" and he replied "velocity" for me was just sad.
i wish he'd just answer the questions with dignity. on this occasion though if he has said he wouldnt answer specific questions and was then asked those questions. then fair play for being true to himself.

I really don't care what the manager says as long as we keeping winning but sometimes (not often) he should give us the fans some real answers esecially after a bad run of games or just after a horror game

If what you say is the truth (not doubting you) then WGS was 100% right. Reporter's in Scotland tried to do this to Gravesen a couple of weeks ago too.

He's wee enough & ugly enough to let it all go , i think he spends too much time thinking of the media guys that annoy him and then too much time on sound bite come backs .

I heard the interview. He was asked about Elvis and he said that he had already spoken about that the day before. The reporter said that maybe some Celtic fans hadnt heard what he had said and he replied that if they hadnt heard what they said they werent real fans.

The reporter then asked him if Celtic were looking to bring in any other players during the window and WGS stormed off mumbling about stupid questions.

I thought both questions were perfectly reasonable and for him to lable people who had not heard an interview from the day before not real Celtic fans is a stupid, infantile thing to say. WGS has got to understand that dealing with the media is part of modern football. The interest created by the media helps to create the massive salaries he and his players are on and the media are only asking questions that Celtic fans want to hear the answer to. He comes across as a grumpy wee * sometimes and that's not good for the reputation of the club.

 

Yeh i heard it and it was so petty. I mean i hadnt heard his view on the pressley signing yet and wanted to hear him. It was simple as saying that he thought pressley would strengthin us at the back as we are becoming short in that area due to injuries. Instead he tried to be a smart *. I know its not a big deal, but they were decent enough questions.

 

Who was the reporter?

 

The guy is a * legend in interviews, a proper quote machine. I'd rather someone make me laugh and make an * out of the interviewer than * like Mourinho who just whinge about the other team and the referee every at post-match conference.
