Well what books have you read and what did you think of it?
    or..
What are you reading and what do you think of it?

Currently I'm reading LOTR books after being a big fan of the movies..
Admittedly it's gripped me in a way in which I didn't think it would, normally i'm a Film over book man but I have to say I'm becoming very addicted to it.

"The Terrible Privacy of Maxwell Sim" by Jonathan Coe. Very good story about a man going through a psychological torment.

Also reading Julia Phillips "You'll Never Eat Lunch in this Town" an expose of Hollywood. Pretty tame by todays standards but interesting.

Also just finished "The Forgotten Highlander" by Alistair Urquhart. A harrowing tale of a * POW.

I started 1984, but couldn't get into it. You should read To Kill A Mockingbird, great book.

Your loss mate - it's a great book!

I just finished 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being'. Pretty different. Enjoyed it though.

For a really affecting book , I read "The Possibility of an Island" by Michel Houellebecq @ 6 years ago. A story of love, life, death and reincarnation of one man.

A book I didnt think much of at the time, but now find myself thinking about it on a regular basis. A very philosophical novel.

    Let the people sing,
Just finished reading the Godfather by Mario Puzo. I love the film but the book is really something else, there is so much that you miss in the film thats in the book.
Also just finished the Rum Diary by Hunter S. Thompson who was the guy who wrote fear and loathing in Las Vegas, was ok but nothing too impressive.
Thinking what to start next, probably try and get 1984 or Catcher in the Rye.

Aye what a man Hughes was. One of the best republican hereos. Was really shocked at some of the revelations about Gerry Adams. After reading about him and the 'unknowns' cell he set up, I cant look at him the same way again.

Ervine was a decent man for a loyalist and as you said its good to read about the other side.

The bit about the lad that was hung in the H Blocks was horrendous I thought, really felt bad for that guy.
Yeah,Adams went from being my hero, then when I started to hear some of the things I have now,i'ts hard to see the man the same way.Very much so.

Aye that hanging was awful and uncalled for. Its no wonder Gerry denies being an IRA member after all the stuff he supposedly ordered.

The last few books I've read in the last couple months or so have been:

    The Poor Mouth

Pretty good book, bought a couple other books by Flann O'Brien, enjoy that style of humor.

Freefall: America, Free Markets, and the Sinking of the World Economy

A good read about the financial crisis and economics if you're interested in that type of thing. Stiglitz and I see eye to eye when it comes to economics, if he ever ran for president I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.

The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks

This book got a lot of praise last year and I wasn't sure if I'd be that interested in it, but I was definitely wrong. It's a very interesting read and discussed a lot of ethical question in medicine that I never really gave any thought too. He's what the books about:

Last book I've read was David Wong's - John Dies At The End.
One of the most amazing and funniest books I've ever read.

STOP. You should not have touched this book with your bare hands. NO, don't put it down. It's too late. They're watching you.

My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you'll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrok, about the invasion, and the future. But it's too late. You touched the book. You're in the game. You're under the eye. The only defense is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part with the bratwurst. Why? You just have to trust me.

The important thing is this: The drug is called Soy Sauce and it gives users a window into another dimension. John and I never had the chance to say no. You still do. I'm sorry to have involved you in this, I really am. But as you read about these terrible events and the very dark epoch the world is about to enter as a result, it is crucial you keep one thing in mind: None of this was my fault

Last books I read were The Strain and The Fall by Chuck Hogan & Guillermo Del Toro, They're horror books about vampires and there is also going to be a third book out. The Strain was good but the Fall was terrible so i have a feeling they're going to be a bit like the Matrix trilogy.
