Name one sectarian song our fans sing?

If you know very little about Irish politics or history then don’t bother engaging with any such debate. Trying to categorise Irish rebel songs – via your own prejudiced ignorance – as sectarian, is actually where the offence is caused – to many Irish people.

Do not denigrate other people’s culture or history simply because you lack the intellect to think for yourself.

This erroneous stigma which is becoming attached to our traditional Irish lullabies is yet another manifestation of anti-Irish racism in Scotland. Only in Scotland would celebration of one’s history be deemed offensive or sectarian.

And please note, it is ONLY Irish culture which is being demonised.

Where is the condemnation about the songs which glorify tyrannical British colonialism?

It was the same with Boruc crossing himself. Where else in the world would a goalkeeper crossing himself be considered front page news? And even more despicably, be chastised for it.

If the Boys of the Old Brigade is offensive, then may I ask, to whom? Which sect of people?

The British? That’s odd, because just last week the head of the British state – acting on behalf of her subjects – laid a wreath and bowed her head in tribute to the Old Brigade.

I will never cease to express my Irish history, giving into the bigots and the ill-educated would be regressive not progressive.

I don't agree with you on Roamin in the Gloamin though, and the Orange Order is not religious, nor is being 'Orange' religious....so calling someone an Orange * has nout to do with religion....and anyone that percieves that to be the case, is truly uneducated

It is the add-ons to the songs that make them Sectarian, When we sing the song “For ever and ever, we’ll follow the Bhoys” we have the line “For we will be mastered by no orange b*****d”.

You can't go saying this is not sectarian.

I don't agree that someone standing up against oppression is a terrorist just because they are standing up against a major power.

"Terrorist" is a word drummed up by those in power in the Western World (mainly USA and Britain,) to generate support from the general public for the invasion of other countries. (The reasons for which I will not go into.)

Politicians/ Snr Army spokesmen denounce anyone who stands up to, or attacks soldiers in Afghanistan as a "Terrorist."

So you are a "Terrorist" if you oppose someone breaking into your house with force, pointing guns in the faces of anyone of any age and gender in your family.

Or physically attacking a male friend or family member because they are suspicious of them because they don't speak English.

By this Logic William Wallace was a terrorist...But I don't see his name slandered or dragged through the mud because he stood up to oppression.

Totally agree with your quote mate. The war is over! The people of Northern Ireland are sick of the troubles and want to move on, its time we did as well.

 Can you provide YouTube evidence of this being sung at any game?

I’ve yet to hear this being sung in large masses. The only time I’ve heard this lyric being sung is by small groups, no bigger than a dozen, and usually pished out of their mind.

I have never heard it sung either, the song its self is sung once a bluemoon at a game and ocassionally on supporters buses but ive never heard the mythical lyrics sung at any time.

Theres nothing wrong with the ira lyric in the botob. Why should we stop? Its a ligitimate song of good historical reference NONE sectarian.

I'm against openly shouting PIRA or IRA because they have different connotations in Britian. The PIRA have killed a lot of British people through their actions but in no way is it sectarian. We don't sing any sectarian songs as such, maybe a small few plebs here there singing Roamin and Gloamin but thats it. BOTOB, Field of Athenry, Amhránn na bhFiann are NOT sectarian. Rebel songs are NOT sectarian but I think we should stop the use of the IRA add on for other songs or just shouting IRA for no reason. We should sing our Rebel songs and be proud but when you openly shout the I, the I the I R A then you're doing it to deliberatly offend thats my thinking. In short I'm in the pro Rebel somg camp just that we shouldn't shout IRA for no reason unless its in a song. I'd rather not hear it at all but when its in what I'd call a legitimate Rebel song then who am I to judge when I respect those same men we're singing about.
