Well if Goodwillie is the answer, then the question is probably, "Who's that wee chav hun * who always seems to be up on charges of assault or rape, and is currently facing court action after 'repeatedly punching and kicking' some guy in Queen Street."

Scummer. Not in the Hoops. :38:

Totally disagree with nearly everything you've said.
When i say potential i mean the potential for success and to score goals at the highest level (International) and NOT that he isnt quite ready yet.

Watching him last year I saw incredible close control ball skills, excellent shot, brilliant vision for a pass, tenacious and quick. No other Scottish striker has this. Playing for Dundee Utd he will never reach his POTENTIAL because of the players around him. If he played for Celtic or Rangers he'd bang in 25-30 goals easy if he's given the chance. But i think he'd be wasted at either of the old firm.

So unless last season was a fluke then I think he already has the ability to play well and score goals in a better team than Dundee Utd and i welcome him into the Scotland squad.

    No thanks.

I'm not Stokes' biggest fan, but I'd rather have him than Goodwillie.

We need a target man. This would be money wasted.

I know this is about the ten billionth time (slight exaggeration) I've said this in here, but why aren't we going for Scott McDonald again? He is a proven goalscorer and was brilliant for us when he was here. The idea of him being up front with Hooper has me salivating. That's a 50+ goal partnership right there, with Stokes for backup.

We'd get him for buttons too, it's Middlesbrough for * sake. They'll be looking for any cash they can get their hands on. Is Mowbray still the manager down there?

We aint going to sign goodwillie - all paper bullshit to allow them to say rangers got him over us when he signs for them!!! There is no way we are after players around the globe and putting them through trials just to eventually sign goodwillie. We dont need to be kept up to date on his situation - they know the situation, pay £2m and hes yours.

Hooper's always seemed more of a natural goalscorer to me than Stokes has. That's not to say that I don't think Stokes is capable. Only a fool would say that, but I do think Hooper is the top striker at the club right now, with Stokes a very close second.

stokes offers more when not scoring imo, linking up, hooper right now if off form, he is undroppable just now though until we get a proper striker to compete

You know what they say; form is temporary, class is permanent. Hooper scored more goals in the Championship two seasons ago than Andy Carroll did and I think he played a few less games than Carroll too.

As soon as he hits his stride again, we'll be in for something special. Folk were saying on here at the end of last season that he was never quite the same after the 2nd March Old Firm game, where that * Bougherra damaged his ankle. He's more than likely made a full recovery from that incident and as the season progresses, I'm sure we'll start seeing more of the Gary Hooper we saw for most of last season, except on a bigger scale.

We're on the back page of The Sun about this with the headliner:

    "Hoops in Goodie swoop"

Say's we're prepared to hijack the Huns' bid for him and that Lenny has asked to be kept informed of Goodwillie's situation. Goes on to say that Sally is desperate to sign him and 2 bids have been rejected by Utd. Blackpool & Wigan are supposed to be interested aswell. Blackpool's £1.6 million was also rejected. Also say's that Utd won't sell him for anything less than £2 million.

This is just a story that is geared up to show that when he eventually signs for them the papers can boast that rangers beat us to a signing target altho we ain't interested!! I can see the headlines now!

Undoubtedly a talented boy and I wouldn't be upset if he signed but do we really need another striker like him? Would prefer a big target man but I would rather Rangers didn't get the chance to sign him. If he signs for us or them he'll constantly get the beast chant even if the charges are dropped so I think a move to England would be best for him.

Would score for fun for us based on what? 1 season? His overall SPL record is abysmal.

I find it hysterical you call Riordan a useless neddy * in a thread about Goodwillie :56:Riordan was prolific in comparison with Goodwillie.

Riordan was only good over one or two seasons, showed he couldn't cut it with us and when he returned to Hibs he was terrible there too, I reckon Goodwillie is a better all round player.
