aye i think we have to stop thinking we are the be all and end all and as hes irish and a fan he should choose us....he has every right to pick and choose where he goes if it suits him/his family at the time.

I would welcome him back with open arms.

Keane is not interested in Celtic, like Roy, Robbie has fulfilled his " childhood " dream to play in the Hoops without really giving any long term commitment to the club.
Come for 6 months, kiss the badge, tick it off your to do list then move on.

I'm disappointed in both of the Keane's, Celtic needed someone of their calibre to step up to the mark & make a proper commitment to the club instead of a 6 month jolly, both were finacially secure for life when they came to the Hoops, & both had the opportunity to become Celtic legends by committing to the club for longer.

Keane, like Bellamy will not be back at CP, Henrik Larsson's only come along once in a blue moon, a player of exceptional skill & quality who is willing to forgo bigger & better leagues to stay with the club & truely make a difference.

and every player has the right to do that. Financially secure....not sure what that is these days....everyone wants to make as much as possible and good luck to them. I would do the same for my family.

more money, more glamour, big games most weeks on sky...its a different ball game.

Roy Keane said his biggest regret was going to Celtic when he did, he has said he should have done it earlier because he felt like a fraud.

I think he just had more trust in his body than he should have. However I thank him for the masterclass him and Neil Lennon showed at Ibrox when we beat them 1-0, never seen such a comfortable midfield at Ibrox. That was a masterclass.

Totally agree it's the SPL that holds Celtic back when it comes to transfers & players.
My main point with the Keane's is playing the old " club I supported as a boy " card then not really giving the club a worthwhile return on their wages.

As for financially secure, both Keanes are multi millionaires & I'm sure will never struggle for cash in the future, a couple of years at Celtic on £30,000 per week plus bonuses is hardly slumming it!

If Robbie Keane was that much of a Celtic fan he would take a wage cut.

Then again, every club he signs for is his boyhood heroes.

Hes not claimed other clubs to be his boyhood heroes. He said he followed liverpool and Celtic growing up in Ireland....like many many young people do.

Why should anyone take a wage cut? he loves the premiership and maybe the london lifestyle.

The offer of £30k per week is probably not there though. Maybe £20k. Again not slumming it but its a vast difference to £40-£60k per week.

He said he followed Celtic and liverpool as a boy. Thats all.

it was in many papers and i remember watching him saying he followed celtic and liverpool growing up. This is the case with many irish people. They follow an english team and have a soft spot for Celtic.

Ah fair enough. I do think people are being very harsh on the guy, just because he followed the team as a youngster doesn't mean we can expect him to leave the country he's comfortable in, move up here and take a large wage cut to play for us. Would be great tho.

I know he's a Liverpool and Celtic fan, but he obviously might not want to take a wage cut to come to us, not every Celtic fan would take a wage cut and thats their choice.
