I think the general consensus is that Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is our main frontman and will always play when fit, but who do you all think is the best choice to play alongside him?

Let's assume that all the players recognised as strikers, or can play up front are fit.

Or if you think none of them are good enough, and want WGS to sign a striker in January.

At the moment I would go for Magic, who is a good instinctive striker and given a run of games alongside the big man would score more than the others.

I'd give the Zurawski-JVOH partnership a chance, remeber that Hibs game, we looked so sharp and strong with those two upfront :50:

Sorry canny vote on pie in the sky stuff, JVoH is not available therefor invalid.
I often thought how can a player like Sutton be a great asset or player, when half the time he was unavailable, sure glad he is gone, and he wont do Aston Villa much cop for he was finished, a long time ago!

I would say beattie and JVOH would be best upfront as they are our clubs best finishers and can use any part of there body to get a goal

Another thing, a team thats in the last 16 of the CL, and doesnt have a quality goalscoring striker like Celtic, is in an extremely awkward situation to say the least!

I disagree. Craig Beattie is one of my favourite players, but Magic is definitely our best finisher. He is deadly infront of goal.

At the end of the season players that have been injured should still be elligable to being player of the year, because if they werent injured the would have been! * :56:
Half of you guys have to be full members of the Walter Mitty club? :84:

None of these guys mentioned are of the standard id like to see at the club. Zurawski is starting to find his feet again but i dont trust him enough to be part of our main strike partnership. Miller is starting to fade, Beattie is far too injury prone and to me it looks unlikely he'll get any kind of decent run in the team. Maloney is best on the left wing, but is second choice for me behind McGeady, and Jarosik i think is a good player but is struggling to find top form, as well as the fact that he's not a striker.

If we want to continue to progress in Europe we definitely need to break the bank to get someone in their mid-20's who has pace and can score and set-up goals at the top level. Which would only happen if we are willing to spend good money on someone.

On current form tho, id say Zurawski, and that's coming from someone who doesn't rate him as a player.

Hubert i am sick of seeing posts by you as they are all you mumping and moaning about something or other. I dont think i have EVER seen anything but negative posts from you. Do you have anything positive to say about our team? The question was about who you would rather see play alongside a fit JVOH and all you can do is put down a former player who done a lot for this club and scored many a fine goal.
As for this "cant vote on pie in the sky stuff" its only a question and Jvoh will be back sooner rather than later so its hardly pie in the sky stuff is it?
Its christmas hubert for gods sake lighten up and look at the more positve aspects of our club rather than dwelling on the negative:87:
    You really are a moan

    2004/2005 - 12 league goals, 8 assists
2003/2004 - 19 league goals, 7 asissts, SPFA Player of the Year
    2002/2003 - 15 league goals, 6 asissts
    2001/2002 - 11 league goals

and thats in rotation with BBJ, playing next to larsson who did snap up most of the goals, not to mention he played in defence quite a lot, very versatile player, gave his all every game and a very intelligent footballer.

well said Devlin! anyhoo, Id like to see beattie given his chance. To be fair Miller and Zurawski have had theres and imo have shown there goal scoring ability is sub par. I know you could argue that miller works hard etc etc but we need a goal scorer. I feel uncomfortable looking at he spl top scorers and not see a celtic striker there. and as for zurawski he has been a big disappointment for me. Atleast miller can say he is contributing in other areas, what has zurawski done?

We need a proper penalty box striker badly...but out of who's here already? I'd like see Beatie given a run.

Well said. I certainly have no problem with people being critical of Celtic. But when that's all I ever hear from someone then I start to tune out.

I say Maloney because he is the only one that has played well recently.
