He seems to be a very knowledgeable guy, I would suggest it goes beyond simple glory-hunting.

Who gives a * about what % of our support are Catholic/Protestant/whatever.

    It doesn't matter.

I was christened Protestant and love the club's identity, I am proud of what and who we are. There's a guy that goes on my bus and like me he was christened a Protestant, you'd find it hard to find a bigger Celtic man than him, rebel daft so he is.

We are a catholic club and I'm proud of that.

So is there anything else we can do to welcome these poor offended Scots into our support.. you already want us to stop singing Irish songs .. take down the tri-colour... basically turn into Glasgow Hibs... i for one wont let that happen to my team & im certain that the vast majority of the Celtic family feel the same way.

Im very proud that we are a club open to every single Race Religion & Class.. doesnt mean we have to dillute every single thing our club stands for & that our fans believe in.

And especially as one of the most integral men to the Irish rebellion was Wolfe Tone (a protestant).

Why is religion suddenly in this conversation anyway??

I thought it was about us singing Irish Republican songs..

Many Protestants were at the forefront of Irish Republicanism down the years!!

I am christened Catholic but thats about it..

The Catholic church is second only to the British to the amount of damage it has done to Ireland in my opinon.

Lets not get our politics mixed up with religion like that mob over at ipox.

    We are better than that.

I think you know what I meant.

If you sing songs that are detrimental to the club ie ones that will result in fines and points deduction. Then no, you're not much of a fan. Why would you hurt your own team?

Any real fan would stop singing any song blacklisted by the club.

Apparently there are not enough non-Catholics being 'encouraged' to support Celtic:rolleyes:

And what songs have been 'blacklisted' by the club?

I would dare you to approach any of the older supporters and air your views of them 'not being much of a fan'.

When the list comes out Padmill we will see what songs are deemed wrong. And if people keep singing them and we lose points because of it then they are no fans.

I'm happy to talk to people about what songs shouldn't be sung and where they shouldn't. I've no intention in going up to a group of supporters, that's not ma job and quite frankly I'm not stupid.

I'll dare you to sing your unwanted songs in amongst fans that don't want them.

I would suggest that he's quite obviously talking about what would happen in the event of the club banning certain songs, which hasn't been confirmed but merely speculated about, especially given the letter Lennon has written to the fans which the thread started. However such a list hasn't been publicised yet, therefore what you're saying is completely pointless. Why go up and criticise people during a game for singing something that we don't know is banned? However if a song is banned by the club and someone decides to sing it, then yes, they are acting in a way that is detrimental to the club's reputation.

The talk about a list being released with acceptable/unacceptable songs has been going on for at least the past 5 years or so. We won't be seeing such a list anytime soon.

We're a club 'open to all'. That works all ways, people forget that.

The Police/SFA have given clubs a list of songs they'll act upon
