    Bullshit.

Obviously board are using Lennon's good connection with supporters to adress this issue again, I don't think what they're doing is wrong. Judging by this thread, at least majority agree PIRA chants aren't welcome. Some progress at least.

If it was just simply about kicking a bit of leather into a net then a lot of us wouldn't be on extreme highs when we win and on extreme lows when we lose. If it was simply kicking a bit of leather into a net then we wouldn't have seen those brilliant scenes on Sunday.

"A community and a cause" as the late, great Tommy Burns put it :shamrock:

you still didnt answer why they are sinister?

The people they cause offence to??? offended that we may be singing songs of the struggles of the country most of us are descended from?? a struggle you yourself said was legitimate?

well if they are offended well basically * THEM!

Growing up in Scotland i was offended almost daily because of my ancestry & religion & Celtic Park was the one place we could go to & be proud of our identity..

    I hope that never changes

Besides, can we leave the huns out of it? This "they do this so we do that" mentality is childish. It reminds me of when I was 7 and my sister was 8, and I ripped the legs off of her barbie doll because she tore up my colouring in book.

the men of 16 didnt kill any children ,, unfortunately 2 boys were killed in warrington in an IRA bomb...

the British Army shot children dead in the North.

so this often often quoted "killied men women & chilldren" is invalid in my eyes!!

Well it wasn't a strategy of the Provos either,I don't see why we should pretend alot of the singing is in direct support for them.
It's why we sing the roll of honour etc.

It's sinister because it's sung with an air of malevolence, knowing the offence that it causes...

I don't see what the struggles of Ireland in the early 1900s has to do with Celtic Football Club in 2011.

And what's all this "forgive and forget" nonsense? * that. Someone tripped me up when I was younger, they'll regret that moment till the day they die.

Delighted he has done this and i hope the fans who sing the songs keep them to their bedroom or anywere else but inside paradise this is the 21st centuary and its bad enough with them singing about things that happened 300 odd years ago how can they move on while some people cant let it go

Lets forgive and forget the Brittish army and their government. Who have persecuted us for hundreds of years and committed acts of genocide on our race. Get real mate.

Despite the countless debates which is had over this issue, there is one fact - The match going Celtic support will dictate what is on the Celtic songsheet not the media, not the SFA, not Celtic PLC, not Neil Lennon and not faceless strangers on the Internet.

Let the people sing their stories and their songs and the music of their native land.

Fair point. But should those songs directly damage the reputation of the club or result in sterner punishments such as fines, then will those same people be willing to accpet responsibility for their actions?
