I would like to know why a section of our support sing more IRA songs at Tynecastle than Ibrox? Is it because we're happy to claim the moral high ground against the huns but don't care about how we're perceived when playing other teams?

It's a real difficult one for us as a support as where do you draw the line and differentiate between some of our songs. Our Irish roots should rightly be celebrated and the fight against tyranny and oppression was real for a lot of our supporters.

It seems to be some songs are acceptable and some should stay in the 80's where they were more relevant. Time to move on, if the people of N. Ireland can move on then it should be easy for football supporters to leave some of the more hardcore PIRA songs in the past where they belong.:shamrock:

I will never stop singing patriotic songs. I would maybe stop singing in stadiums if it was going to effect the team.

Your talking nonsense if you think the songs are unwanted though.

They are going to publish a list of unacceptable songs and give them to all the clubs and punish any club who fails to eradicate them.

    Ibrox will be pretty quiet!:shamrock:

You MIGHT stop singing them if it was going to effect the team?

That's pretty weak mate. Would have thought there would be no question of you stopping.

I would suggest songs about Bobby Sands, Broad Black Brimmer of the IRA, Boys of The Old Brigade could be described as PIRA songs.:shamrock:

I would be pretty surprised if they banned the songs im talking about when I say maybe. It would be pretty racist to do so in my opinion.

On your first point about Orange walks. I completely agree with you but Orange walks are not present in football stadiums which is what we are talking about.

I am not saying we shouldn't have Republican themed songs or Irish songs as they are relevant to the history of our club but songs that specifically mention or promote the IRA simply have no place in a football stadium. Like i said before, it's not appropriate to voice support for Republican paramilitaries when you should really be voicing your support for the players on the park and our great football club. Like i say, singing songs in support of the IRA is something that should be done in certain circumstances, it is not morally wrong in my opinion but it's not appropriate at a Football match. It is a delicate issue and everyone has their own views on Republicanism, some Celtic fans are Republican minded and some aren't. That is a reality and inevitable because we are, quite rightly, a club open to all. The one common thing we all share at the match though is our Love for Celtic, our love for it's fine history and our love for the Team on the park and our manager. Lastly, we Love the fact that we have a wonderful reputation the world over and we should do all we can to protect that reputation. Let's celebrate the thing we all have in common and sing in support of our team and club and if we REALLY do love our club, we wont do anything that may hurt it.

The Broad Black Brimmer narrates the story of a boy whose father died before he was born, fighting in the Irish Republican Army. The title refers to the wide brimmed hat worn by many IRA guerrillas in the 1920s Irish War of Independence and Irish Civil War. Not the PIRA

The Boys Of The Old Brigade is a song about the Irish Republican Army of the Irish War of Independence 1919-1921. The song consists of a father, a veteran of the Easter Rising of Irish Republicans. Not PIRA.

I'm familiar with songs pal and don't need a history lesson! Do we not add a bit into BOTOB 'Provisional when?' It's a song that can be applied to any time frame in the republican movement. As with Broad Black Brimmer.

The only people that love the club are the fans that don't sing republican songs. 99% of the fans that attended thd Hearts game don't care about the club. What a joke.

It amazes me how gullible folk can be.

The whole deducted points thing has been spoken about for years. It won't happen.

    Oh dear.

Go and find out what the song's about pal before you go spouting nonsense about it.

    Oh yes it can.

Listen mate I've sang these songs and love The Boys of the Old brigade and have sympathised with the PIRA at the height of the troubles.

But we need to move on and support our club and if by supporting our club we need to eradicate some of these songs or face a points deduction, then surely we need to stop singing them when the list is published!:shamrock:

Do you think it matters to people what time frame we're singing about when The IRA is mentioned. Grow up pal. :bbpd:
