You'd be unlikely to find anyone who disagreed with that. The problem is that often the songs are not about those volunteers but rather the 'Provos'. Even if the song is not about the provos, you can at times find an add on or two that changes that.

Going to Manchester and singing about the IRA is always going to be an issue that the English just don't want.

Is it not about showing we are better than to resort down to that level ?
We are just playing into the media and rangers hands

They wouldn't even be moaning about it if Wednesday hadn't went the way it did.
When was the last time a chant like "PI-PI-PIRA" was heard like that?* ages man.Not noticed this occured straight after Lennon was attacked? Not think that maybe it was a GIRUY to the scum that are Hearts?Defiance muthafuckas!
Back Celtic, don't sit and try and say we're as bad as them or how much you "cringe"(I * hate that word now) when you hear our supporters singing the three evil letters that are IRA.
There are much, much more important things to be concerned about right now.
Everyones favourite site have more threads about our songs on Wednesday than they do about the attacks on Lenny. That is their priority-to make us look bad because they've been recently hammered. The self loather lot whining are pandering to them something awfull.

That's people's on ignorance though. Anyone who know their history know not all forms of the IRA could be classed as terrorists.

Hold on did I say cringe no but I did say it looks bad.
when the media should be focused on the events with lenny because of chanting coming from some celtic supporters it gives people a chance to have a go thats all I am saying.

They tell the ethnic Irish of Scotland to * off home. No past heroes.
They sing of "no nuns no priests no rosarybeeds". No past heroes.

If we didn't sing any songs the media would find something else to have a go at us about.

Players know that Celtic fans fill stadiums so they get more cash.

Why would't they just ask a local team to play them then, if it was just about sales?

Because they know Celtic fans fill stadiums?

I'm not going to say that an admiration for Celtic fans doesn't ever play a part in players wanting us for testimonials. Of course it would. However the overwhelming reason players want us for testimonials is that they know we'll buy all the tickets.

I don't think that's true mate. Certainly its not true for the match against Liverpool.
