I can't disagree with anything you've said, but its interesting that you mention change. I believe Neil Lennon should be given a second chance next season but he MUST win the Scottish Cup this season to end our trophy drought of over 2 years and MUST, SIMPLY MUST regain the title next season and win a cup, hence doing a League and Scottish/CIS cup double at least.

He has the nucleus of a good team, but some of the players are not suited to the rough and tumble of Scottish football, and he must address that. But going back to change, Celtic were hopeless in Gordon Strachan's last season and he left, and we got change with Mowbray and a whole new team. That was a disaster so we got change again with Lennon and a whole new team again this season. What I think needs to change is the board as Peter Lawwell and John Reid must take responsibility as in January 2009, they never pushed the boat out to sign Darren Fletcher, costing us the title. They then appointed Mowbray, which was a disaster, so they sacked him and appointed Lennon, eventually full-time but knew they simply had to get it right this time.
If we fail to win the league,as well as severly damaging the supporter's morale it will put us into financial oblivion aka no Champions League money again meaning no funds to buy new players unless we sell. Since 2008 in the space of 4 years Celtic have won 2 trophies ;the title by the skin of our teeth in 08 and the League Cup in 09, which Dr. Reid and Mr Lawwell know is just not good enough. Maybe if we need change it should come from the top, as we are seeing the long-term effects of their pennypinching.

Lenny's not negligent, he's made mistakes is all.

We don't have the players to play on * pitches - end of.

Murphy & Sammy are good at holding the ball up & winning flick ons, as shown at St. Johnstone, but as the same game showed us - neither player is much good at scoring goals either, especially from headers.

We need a Sutton/Hartson type player to play on these pitches & against these big bully boy teams. Strikers who can hold their own, but also score goals - especially from headers.

We really just don't have a good target man striker, that would be one of my 1st priorities for next season.

The defending was terrible, Madge is incapable of clearing her lines - she had 2 free headers for ICT's 3rd goal & the rest is history.

Lenny will learn from this, but TBH there's not much more he could've done, with these players. Quite a few have to go, especially Madge, Sammy & Murphy.

Neil Lennon hasn't learned from his mistakes? Sorry but that's just wrong.

Neily got his team line-up all wrong for the first Old Firm game of the season and has changed his way of approaching playing Rangers ever since, to great effect. So he clearly learned from a mistake there.

There have also been other games throughout this season where Neil Lennon has made tactical changes before/during a match which have resulted in matches swinging in our favour. Again, I would say that shows a capacity to learn and adapt.

Neil Lennon is in his first season as a football manager. He's not going to get everything right at the first attempt and he's not going to correct every mistake he makes immediately either. No manager, at the stage of their managerial career that Neily is at, would. Learning your trade is not a case of a light bulb suddenly switching on in your head one day and suddenly you become a great manager. Learning your trade is an ongoing and gradual process and I think it's clear that Neil Lennon is a better manager now than he was at the beginning of this season.

He's moving in the right direction as a manager and we are moving in the right direction as a team.

I know people are hurting after Wednesday night but some of the guff that has been said about Neil Lennon since Wednesday night is just not right. Neily has my 100% backing.

THERE'S ONLY ONE NEIL LENNON :shamrock:

The only thing Neil Lennon has done was to put his trust in those who have done well for him, the reaction of the players on Wednesday after the game trying to disappear up the tunnel shows me what went wrong.

Unfortunately these instances have happened at the wrong time Cup Final and Wednesday night. Neil Lennon can prepare as much as possible for each game but if your players let you down on the park its virtually out of your hands.

Basic individual mistakes in Defence, players losing possesion easily and wrong decisions being made by individual players in attack were just some of the issues which occured.

its the truth how many times did you hear songs about WGS & look what he did for us when he was here... thanks to those amongst our own support that are blinded by lennons image we have been stuck with a rookie manager & lost the league ( barring a miracle) to the worst * rangers team in living memory..you trying to tell me if this was WGS 1st season youd all be standing by him.. sayin "wee gordon wee trust"" etc etc no yous wouldnt the facts speak for themselves & the facts are we are far too big a club too have a rookie in charge & we have paid the price &its time to wake up to the fact!!!

Seems to be a few people foaming at the mooth regarding Neil. People need to think on a few points.

    1. He is a rookie manager who has taken over and revived a dilapidated side that experienced Tony Mowbray assembled.

    2. He has made mistakes, changing the team after the Aberdeen hammering, playing Ledley in the Derby game, strange substitutions. However, if we are going to hammer him for that, then we need to also look at the fantastic football he has had us playing at times this season.

    3. At the start of the season it was accepted that we would be happy with just being able to compete with the huns after the debacle of last season. To get ourselves to two finals and be a point behind with 3 games to go is a great achievement. Given that this has been under the most horrific and disgusting threats that ANY manager has been on the end of makes it all the more remarkable.

My own thoughts are that, yes, I will be gutted if we dont win the league, but...

Neil Lennon has improved the side beyond all recognition from the side that we had last season. He has shown a great eye for players and his signings have generally been sensational. Most of all though he has brought the passion back to a club that was no more than a whimper. If we are going to jump on managers and players backs after one decision and not support them to the end then what kind of support are we? Neil has the ability to be a top manager for us no doubt, if he can strengthen the team to the extent that he has done in one season, he deserves another to make it greater.
