We can have both. He's not a midfielder anyway, he's a striker. He doesn't get loads of goals and he's a better dribbler and assister than goalscorer, but he's still a striker.

I've seen people saying this and I'm still not convinced. Seems like a winger to me. At least if we signed him I think that's where we'd play him. Maybe behind the striker but we could perhaps actually use the guy at RM.

The fact that we were interested in him, dropped our interest, then went out and got Commons instead, tells me that winger was the position needing filled.

We already had a stupid amount of wingers and we'd just bought Ljungberg. Just because we tried to buy him and later bought Commons does not mean we wanted them for the same position. We needed a striker much more than a winger at the time.

Hooper would benefit from playing with a target man to receive knock downs etc. (aka Larsson and Sutton). This is clearly not Daryl Murphy. However Hunskelper may well have the ability to be an effective foil for Hooperman. I read he has played on the wing too, so versatility.

 

Wish we got damari now, I really don't think this guy is good enough. Plus he's not a target man which we need!!!

This does sound awful like a Sammy/Fortune type winger-*-striker awkward sort of player. Not the sort of player we need IMO. We need a high scoring natural striker who is strong and good in the air too. Surely there are tall strikers in the Van Hojdonk/Cadette/JVOH mound out there who is under the radar of the big clubs. If only Sammy hadnt lost is scoring touch. He had a decent scoring ability at one time but he has lost it badly. IMO he is about as good as we can ever hope for in a big striker except for his finishing.

id rather big carew to play up front with hooper n stokes,no more midfielders unless proven world class,we need everything bar midfielders ,hes not a target man nor is he prolific.

What annoys me about this is, well actually there's two things. The first is that Bari are being greedy, no two ways about it. A bit of interest and the price shoots up.

The second thing is to suggest we can't afford 4 mil. Of course we can. It's just we rarely pay that for a player these days. It's why we are healthy and the scum are broke. In my mind it's just spin by the media as they hate to upset the 'loyal'

 

A team that has been relegated and he had been bought for 2million hasn't been great for Bari and yet they find 4million a reasonable asking price * OFF we wouldn't pay 2million there is no way we would pay anywhere near 4million
