He flapped around a bit but overall his performances have been decent this season.don't forget it's the mighty Celtic these young guys are playing for.also yesterday was as massive a game as he and a couple of others will ever had played or will play again.

No disrespect to big Forster, but give me Artur Boruc, and all his baggage, any day of the week. Big FF has never saved a penalty for us since he came up. I have never even had, a slight inclination to think, that he would maybe save a penalty. With Boruc, throughout his days at Celtic, always gave me, at least, the satisfaction of knowing, that they, had the task of beating Boruc, before you get to score a goal against Celtic. I had that same confidence, in Boruc, even when had his bad spells for us, but always remember, his good spells, heavily outnumber his bad spells. The same way, he won us more games, than he lost us. I have saw our Keepers from Ronnie Simpson, to big Forster, and there is one who stands out a mile, its "Our Holy Goalie" Artur Boruc, the same guy that stood up for rights, in the same way as Lenny.

Fraser Forster, a GK, has never saved a penalty for Celtic yet, in the one season he's been here.

some argument that is, some reasoning. not. given that he's a gk, he's never favourite to stop a penalty, he's not got the ego or ability of artur, but he's young. lay off.

I don't think anyone, can fault him, for not saving a penalty.

Well said, good on you for giving him credit as a Sunderland fan. How many pens has he had to save anyway? Very few.

He's doing the job for celtic as far as i'm concerned

indeed, very few. even at that though, a keeper is never favourite so it's not what to use against him, there's probably other things you could use to discuss

I think Forster is an ideal keeper for us in the SPL.

The most important quality for a Celtic keeper in the SPL is concentration - the ability to do * all for 60 minutes, then suddenly pull off a goal-denying save. Forster has it, and that's why he's on course to break the SPL shut-out record.

Even Artur, despite being an excellent and sometimes inspirational shot-stopper, was sometimes a bit flaky in that regard.

Fact is, we're very unlikely to get a quality goalie who is in his prime. They are like hen's teeth, and even the one's who are available don't usually want to come to Scotland. At least if we get a quality younger keeper, we have someone who will be in his prime in a few years time.

I say sign Fraser - that is, if Newcastle will let him go.

A wee bit sarcy there are you not SuperNick, if you get the drift of what I'm saying is, that I don't have a 100% confidence in big Forster, I didn't say or suggest he was a bad keeper, did I ? And as for the bolshie "lay off", I support my team, have supported for years, through bad times, as well as the good times. I stated a personal opinion about Boruc, and I know, I share it, with many other Hoops supporter. So before you dive in, bumpin your gums aff, please get your facts right

I think Forster is a great keeper, i'd love it if he was to stay with us next season and maybe take No.1 spot. 18 clean sheets or something this season? not bad if you ask me! what gets me is that sometimes he messes up the easy saves but the hard ones he pulls off a spectacular save from nowhere?!

Well by all accounts we won't have Forster next season unless we stump up the cash. 3mil+ for a fairly unknown keeper is too much.

A good shout in my opinion would be Luke Steel who plays for Barnsley. On his day he's an outstanding keeper. Living down here i have been to a few Barnsley games with mates and some of the saves he makes are excellent. http://tinyurl.com/6yupgaz

I'd love to see Forster stay though if the price was right. Some people don't seem to like him but he's a well regarded young keeper who was tipped to be an international soon enough. Doubt we could find many better keepers to be fair.

Would like to see Forster back next season, absolutley. Very underrated IMO. I remember one game in particular, Hamilton at home last year. Was 0-0 and in the first 20 minutes he must have made 4 or 5 cracking saves to keep us in the game so early in. Made a couple of World Class saves throughout the season.

I think some people just love Boruc because he was a legend and was the 'Holy Goalie'. I certainly loved him myself but i do think his time was up. Think he was done after the game away to Hibs to be honest.

Have every faith in big Forster however, will Newcastle allow him to sign permanently? I don't think so :38: We'll have to wait and see what happens though...

Nothing against big FF but I don't feel confident with him in goal,

A modern goal keeper must control his back line and know when to come and when to stay. His decision making at times is very poor and his communication is non existent.

This reminds me of young Marshall when he played for us.

As a shot stopper he is good, but being good at one thing is not enough for me.

Also if he makes a small mistake for example in the 2-2 cup game just before he got sent off he had a bad kick out that could have cost us, I could see that it was on his mind and then contact with that wee Rat and he is sent off.

Great keepers make mistakes but it is there ability to forget about it straight away and make the right decision next time, that's what makes them great, for me FF just is not at that level yet.

Would not be first choice goaly for me next year..

Stopping a penalty is, by statistic, the hardest thing to do in any sport. It's less than 20% and cameras show that the keeper has to be moving before the ball is even struck if the penalty is taken properly. The majority of penalties missed are due to the taker missing the net or just mishitting it right into the keeper. The rare saves are just a keeper guessing correctly and having the athleticism to make the stop once they've leaned the right way. More than anything PKs are a mental battle and a good keeper will get into the taker's head and get him to second guess where the ball should go. I bet Sammy was standing there yesterday thinking, "I should put this ball opposite where I put the last one... wait, maybe he will know that's what I'll do. Maybe I should just hit it to the exact same spot as last time, he'll never expect that."

i think our defence deserves a lot of credit for the number of clean sheets we've kept this season

Ha! No need for facts :97:

I know what you said and I know what I said. No matter what, you can't pick faults with him for not saving penalties- he has not had many to save- and, gk's are always second favourite!! I'm responding to that, lay-off him for that!
