It gets really annoying, although it always has been a position where most RBs just hoof the ball up the pitch and we lose position, Wilson is quite bad it, it seems as though we have no ooptions but im sure he can just go back to the cbs and start again. Hate losing the ball as a result of that, it doesnt happen nearly as often at LB maybe thats becuase commons stays really wide where as brown doesnt, but we need to stop doing it, its giving away possesion cheaply, Hinkel did it sometimes but he was good at play it infield, I hope wilson grows out of it, one aspect of his game he needs to work on, probably becuase hes not the best technically.

This is not a result of the performance today, just an obseravtion i wanted to post as it is getting fustrating

juarez would be a gd option to cover that. but i think wilson has came on leaps and bounds this year. total diffrent player, i never rated him up untill this year. think wilson always looks calm on the ball and never panicks. been 1 of our best players all season

A couple of Wilson's balls forward worked very well and i believe he is very underrated. Has been playing fantastically for a few months now. Definitely better defensively than offensively though.

Are you serious?? Have you seen any of Wilsons games since Xmas. This guy has been a machine up and down the park, and is only overshadowed at Right Back due to Izzy being a bit special at LB. Defensively excellent, rarely "hoofs" the ball up the park and always available.

Incredible post, really is, given how well he has done this season. I am imagining you havent been to many games this season and simply reports from The Sun or the DR

He played a brilliant ball through to Stokes around the 10 min mark, it sent him 1 on 1, but he shouldn't play so many high balls when we've not got a proper target man playing.

I noticed this too, it * me right off, Kayal, Stokes or Ledley will come short for him and he'll boot it to *?
Wilson has been great this season though so I'm not going to go crazy over it as sometimes it creates chances.

    +1

Wilson has had an outstanding season, and his pass for Stokes was superb.

first ball that wilson hit after 20 seconds was hoofing it up and hooper won a free kick in great position. Defence has been quality this season with the exception of the first old firm and utrect. Not going to slate something that has been immense and working ever since

In general i don't like it when any of the defenders hoof the ball up the park, inevitably it just hands possession back to the opposition, it is frustrating but we can't always build from the back.

Totally, Brown need to be told to stay in position wide right, he is not a central midfielder.

It's not rocket science. Make it simple for him, draw a picture and get him to copy it with his crayons.

I agree with this, he has come on a great deal, however this is an aspect he can improve

Im not just talking about him though, RBs in general seem to do that alot, should be worked on as a team so try to limit it a bit more

I like wilson at right back. He is a great athlete with a good engine on him. he always gives 100% for the team. The worse one for 'hoofing it' was paul telfer. Wilson is a lot better. one of our most consistant this season. He can attack and defend. underrated player if you ask me.

I'm not Brown's biggest fan but he had good game today I thought - I'd imagine Lennon gives him instructions not to play wide all the time - he's wide midfielder not a winger, IMO.

I would have agreed with you a few months back but Wilson has been absolutely outstanding for a while now, his distribution is excellent I think.

from parkhead glasgow but now live in merseyside

he is playing right mid he should stay right mid thats what he is saying you don't need to be a winger to play on the right......

if you play on the right you tend to stick on the right unless your full back go's forward then you fill in

Like i said in my last post and as my title suggests im not talking about wilson specifically just the right back position in general, whoever plays there feels the need to play it long, which most of the time is fairly pointless, and im saying as a team we should try and make more options for the RB, im assuming the lack of options is why the RB does it, so that they dont have to!

Aye but there's a difference between hugging the touchline and working the channels.

What does it matter if it works? Wilson done it twice today and both worked well, put stokes through 1 on 1

Guess the OP didn't see the tremendous ball Wilson put in today. Or how he's played since New Years. Also, how has RB always been a "punt the ball" position for Celtic. Hinkel was the last RB, he didn't do that. Neither did many other RBs.

I think Wilson has been good at knowing when to play football and when to just clear his lines this year. There is nothing wrong with just clearing your lines from time to time.
