our teenage militant wing seem to prefer up tempo "oh oh oh oh oh's" and "doo doo doo doo doo's" as opposed to lyrical ballads!

not decrying them, just a sign of the times

I heard it when I was at the 2nd March Rangers and the 9th April St Mirren home games..
BUT it wasn't widely joined in, of course at the Rangers game it wasn't bad but not great, and hardly anyone joined in at the St Mirren game :38:

Shame, because it's my favourite too.

  6. It's just so cheesy and annoying.

When was the last time we sang over and over

  8. :50: Run of the mill SPL games its better to have up tempo chants to liven a game up.

European games are where the 'ballads' are sung, just not been any for a while :54:

Celebrating anything remotely Irish makes you on par with those singing about being up to their knees in * blood.

Seeing the Drop Kick Murphy's there reminded me I'd seen a Chinese tourist in Thailand 2 weeks ago wearing one of their T-Shirts with a Celtic Supporter's Club badge on it. I wasn't close enough to see who the Supporter's Club was......but it proves our pull the World over.

Last time I remember hearing it was the New Year game vs The Huns at Ibrox. We keep on adding more and more songs on matchdays, it's inevitable some are going to start being forgotten.

Get the Brush Shiels version blasted out over the P.A at Celtic Park a few times and the whole place will be rockin' once again to the "FIELDS"

I think the GB sing it, but TBH it's only in the big games that anyone else sings anything really. Do the huns not have a song with the same tune now?

Aye, A Father's Advice, loyalist tune that they've sung for years.

it does get sung but no1 joins in outside the gb to * anything apart from JCGE really.

annoys me cause that and willie maley are powerful when ev1 is belting them out

still sung at away games but could do with ev1 singins the hole song

Can't say I've heard it sung at Celtic Park for a while, by the GB or anyone else. I like it, it's one of my favourites.

Also, that Dropkick Murphys version was *!

The Fields of Athenry has always been my favourite Celtic song ever since I can remember. I hope we can start singing it again as much as we used to! :celt_2:
